Scholarship Overview

This scholarship is for residents of privately owned federally assisted low income housing properties (Section 8, low income housing tax credits, etc.) or recipients of Section 8 voucher rent assistance who demonstrate both merit and need. This scholarship is to benefit a non-traditional student by providing eligible applicants who demonstrate both merit and need, a chance to pursue higher education or other training that will lead to better employment opportunities. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be enrolling in a program promoting higher education or a certified training program. Applicants must be US citizens or legal permanent residents with a valid social security number, be accepted for full- or part-time programs with a minimum class schedule of ten class/training hours per week, and demonstrate commitment to achieving an education/training that promotes marketability in the community work force. Applicants must outline a goal to achieving full-time employment within the next five years. Applicants may only apply for one scholarship offered by the NLHA Education Fund per application cycle.
