These scholarships are for outstanding students from developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies. Scholarships are awarded on a 50 percent grant; 50 percent loan basis each year. Applications will be accepted from countries where the Aga Khan Foundation has branches which at present include: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgystan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Ugana, Mozambique, Madagascar, France, Portugal, UK, USA, and Canada. Priority will be given to requests for Master's level courses but consideration will also be given for PhD programs. Requests will also be considered for travel and study awards for PhD students doing their research in Third World counties on topics judged to be of interest to the Aga Khan Development Network. Applications for short-term courses are not considered and neither are applications from students who have already started their courses of study. Students may obtain application forms as of January 1st each year from AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services/Board in their countries of current residence. Check website for various deadlines.
