American Foreign Service Association (AFSA)

This contest is for high school students in grades 9 through 12 who are US citizens. To apply, applicants must write an essay on a given topic related to the Foreign Service. The winner will receive a cash prize and a trip to Washington, DC, with their parents to meet the Secretary of State, and an educational voyage from Semester at Sea to be used once the winner enters an accredited college or university. Students whose parents are in the Foreign Service are not eligible.
