Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting Scholarship

Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting

To encourage our Orthodox Christian Scouts in their future studies, the Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting offers up to two scholarships each year. The selection process is based on applicants’ involvement and achievements in their church, school, Scouting, and community. Scholarships are contingent upon acceptance to an accredited four-year college or university. Applicants must be a registered active member of an EOCS-recognized Scouting program (Scouts BSA (Boy Scouts of America), Exploring, Girl Scouts of the USA, Trail Life USA, American Heritage Girls, and Camp Fire) and have earned the Eagle Scout Award, the Gold Award, or highest award of another EOCS-recognized Scouting program. (Note: Exploring does not have its own capstone award.) Applicants must be a communicant member of an Eastern Orthodox Christian Church recognized by the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the USA and have earned the EOCS Alpha Omega Religious Award. They must also demonstrate love of God and the Orthodox Christian Faith through service, scholarship, leadership, and practical citizenship in church, school, Scouting unit, and community. Applicants must be enrolled in the final year of an accredited high school. Home-schooled students should contact the Scholarship Chairman for guidance in completing the application.
