Edward Yoshiharu Sakuma & Kay Kubo Sakuma Early Childhood Education Scholarship was established in 2018. The purpose of this fund was to increase the number of qualified and culturally sensitive public school teachers on the Leeward coast of Oahu by providing scholarships to undergraduate students pursuing an Associate of Arts in Teaching at Leeward Community College and/or for those students transferring to the early childhood Bachelor of Education program at the University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu.
