These awards are in recognition of the Founders of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., women who were leaders in this noble profession, and to increase the current number of teacher-leaders. Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award: open to African American high school students graduating in Spring or currently enrolled college students, major or intended major in teacher preparation programs at a regionally accredited institution across the country and have demonstrated academic merit with a GPA of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 scale.
