Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus police is always driving around campus. There are emergency poles throughout the campus quad in case of an emergency. Parking is strictly enforced!
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs & activities, and if you don't see the one you want the student life office will be wiling to work with you. There is also religious organizations if you have an interest in that.
Great for these types of students Academic driven, Engineering/Psychology/Education Majors and International students.
Bang for the buck Tech has been known to be a cheaper college. For out-of-state students it is still cheap when comparing to other out of state schools around the country.
What to do for fun There is a lot in the Cookeville and surrounding areas to do, especially in the warm weather. There are a couple of state parks where you can hike and see waterfalls. There is also long strip of restaurants we call restaurant row, where anything you can think of is there to eat/shop.
Food and Dining Food is okay on campus. Not a lot of healthy options to select from, but there is Wich Which and others to select from besides the cafe. I would bring some things you can microwave in your dorm. Although the cafe is really helpful if you have allergies or are a vegan/vegetarian.
Dorm Life Dorm life is good on campus. Although the traditional halls need a major upgrade, which they are slowly working on it. The RA's are there for you so talk with them when something is going on.
Academic Rigor The academics here at tech are really rigorous once you get into the upper division courses for your particular major. You get caring and involved professors that care about your future. Basically if you put in the effort you will see results.
Tips for prospective students Read the course material and study really hard. Prepare for a good academic experience.
In three sentences The campus life is there but needs help on the weekend. Academics are great and you really get your money out of it. Overall, Tech is a great school for your degree and future career.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I am a transfer student from Roane State Community College-Oak Ridge Branch Campus and I am currently a Junior at Tennessee Technological University. I just completed my first semester with the college and took four online courses with the TNeCampus program and will do the same for the Spring semester when classes start again in January. I have enjoyed learning from the TNeCampus because even though I have learned from different professors from different colleges, I have worked hard through this experience. Since I live in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, using the TNeCampus program has helped with doing classes at home and saving on making trips to and from Tennessee Technological University. Plus, I think it would be difficult to make long two hours trips to take face-to-face classes with the college. So, I would say to students who want to take classes at home with Tennessee Technological University, one may want to consider using the TNeCampus program, but maybe try not to take four online classes, but possibly two or three, so as to not be overwhelmed. But I can say that learning and using this program has been a learning experience and a good opportunity to save some money to not make long distance trips to and from Tennessee Technological University. The staff at TTU is also great in helping anyone with any questions regarding the school or Financial Aid or helping students socialize with each other to make lasting friendships. I really enjoy being a Tennessee Technological University student.
In three sentences I have enjoyed being a student with Tennessee Technological University (or also known as TTU). I have just completed my first semester with the college for the Fall and took four online courses with the TNeCampus and will take another four classes with the same program for the Spring semester. Categories Comments Campus Safety I have not had any serious problems while being on campus. The police are there and are very strict about parking. The students receive notifications if something has occurred that we need to be aware of, whether the event happened on or close to campus.
Clubs and Activities There are numerous clubs and activities for anyone on campus. Anything you can think of Tech probably has it, including Quidditch.
Bang for the buck It is more affordable than most colleges, however the tuition is increasing due to parking and building construction.
What to do for fun There are numerous nature areas and sustainability activities around Cookeville. There is a movie theater and a bowling alley. Also, I have never been, but there used to be a place called the Coliseum which is an arcade place. Downtown is great with numerous art and antique shops. The Appalachian Center for Craft is about 30 minutes from campus. That is a place where fun art events are held and art majors can show off there creations. Cooking on the Square is an event held downtown that benefits Habitat for Humanity. The STEM Center holds events for families of the community during Fab Fridays or Safari Saturdays. College students are welcome to volunteer for the STEM Center.
Food and Dining The cafeteria has just been renovated and usually has a large variety of things all the time. The food there is pretty good, although I did get food poisoning this semester from the beef once. The Starbucks is fabulous, and there are three restaurants in the food court (Chik-fil-a, Backyard Burger, and Leafy Greens). There is also a convenient food truck to go to when you are in a rush, the only thing about that is finding out where it is on campus at a certain time. There is usually free food in the library during finals week. Au bon pain in the library is super convenient when you are studying and plan on being in the library for awhile.
Dorm Life Tech is currently renovating dorms, so it can be slightly inconvenient being kicked out of a dorm and having to get adjusted to a new one. I have been lucky and have had a decent dorm life. The renovated dorms are nice with study rooms, a kitchen, and a personal thermostat in each room. My experience with the older dorms has been: leaky pipes once, just an on or off switch for the air conditioner (so really hot in winter and really cold in summer), and sometimes cold showers. The renovated dorms are much improved.
Academic Rigor It depends on a student's major, but I feel that they have a chemical engineering program that really challenges a student. The administration really pushes for research, which allows for great opportunities later on (speaking from experience). How rigorous a course is also highly depends on the professor.
Tips for prospective students Some of the best advice I received was to get involved. Before the first day of school is a mix-and-mingle where freshmen can walk around and get to know about all of the organizations on campus; this is a good way to network and obtain club meeting schedules. Also, going to a professor's office for help in a class is also very helpful and improves relationships between the student and professor.
In three sentences A good school overall, it is small but has a good community feel the longer you are there. The construction takes a while and can be inconvenient, especially when it comes to parking. The school strongly promotes research on the graduate and undergraduate level.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i have received only a handful of warnings & have never seen or heard first or secondhand of any trouble. the campus is well-lit & has emergency communication stations throughout it.
Clubs and Activities i personally have a blast with gymnastics, which is for those of all abilities, and in my religious organization. there is also a fun chess club & a mini baja (racing) club, for instance. there are tons of clubs!
Great for these types of students those that like medium-sized town; not to big, but big enough for diverse entertainment (& plenty of shopping close by). ttu is also for those who love the outdoors; it is close to a lot of pretty outdoor places.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus ttu is just north of town & close to hiking & boating areas.
Bang for the buck i have had to pay way less than $100,000 per semester &, as i said, have had good teachers & a lot of things to do for amusement.
What to do for fun go to parks! state parks or the city park, it doesn't matter. dogwood park is pretty, and is close. state parks include burgess falls, rock island (good for canoeing/kayaking), & cummins falls. all have *gorgeous* waterfalls. you can also go to the theatre or drama center (to watch plays). cookeville high school also puts on good plays. i always have a blast in the ttu clubs i am in, as well.
Food and Dining i bring my own food.
Dorm Life i don't really know; i commute, as do a lot of other students.
Academic Rigor most of the teachers i have had really do test you to make sure you are learning. however, they were always willing to give me help when i asked. even for general chemistry, which was hard, i had a funny professor who helped me keep going.
Tips for prospective students be prepared to study, but also be prepared for the great clubs on campus!
In three sentences the teachers are good, on average. it is a convenient campus to navigate, with enough shops &/or parks nearby. the dorms could use some improving, but are functional.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students outdoorsy type people.
What to do for fun hiking, frisbee, biking, and pretty much any sports/activities you want to do outside. however, i am an outdoors man and i might be a little biased in this respect, but i am sure there is a lot to do indoors, as well.
Food and Dining honesty, it is easy for anybody to get tired of college dining when on a meal plan. the key is diversity. ttu has great choices for dining experiences.
Dorm Life i got lucky and landed a dorm in new hall south. the newer-styled dorms are very nice, and it's nice having a bathroom in the dorm (even if i have to clean it).
Academic Rigor the engineering program is great.
Tips for prospective students visit the campus to get a feel whether the university is right for you. you'll know when you've found the right campus, and i had the feeling when i went to tech. importantly, try to get a newer dorm if you can afford the higher price--the newer dorms are worth spending a little extra money since you will be spending a lot of time in it.
In three sentences ttu is a great university for the cost of attendance. the college offers many programs and opportunities for students. plus, there are so many places to hike (9 state parks are located 45 minutes or less from campus)!

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel very safe on campus. Make sure to keep an eye for cars when your crossing the streets because there are many times that cars won't stop for students.
Great for these types of students Students that prefer to live in a small town with a safe campus.
Food and Dining The food is acceptable and average. Get a smaller meal plan if you get tired of eating the same food over and over again. I never finish my meal plans.
Dorm Life Some of the residence halls are pretty old but they are currently renovating these halls. It shouldn't be a problem for future students. The residential staff is very nice and friendly. They always fixed the problems I had with my room.
Academic Rigor Most professors are willing to help whenever you ask them. There are classes at Tech that are taught by students. The difficulty level really depends on the class and instructor itself.
Tips for prospective students Keep up with all the deadlines for registration, housing and scholarships. The best way to keep up is to get a planner. You will run into the problem of WiFi and it is very frustrating at times. Just go to class and study!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety here is remarkable you will hardly hear of any incidents.
Greek Life Greek life is very active and very social able they will greet you with open arms.
What to do for fun Cookeville has lots of things to do we have laser tags, movies, bowling and on campus they do a lot of activities as well For Halloween we have a pumpkin carving competition and a dress up one has well.
Food and Dining You have plenty of options to choose from and it all is reasonably priced. And with the meal plan you don't hardly have to pay for your meals.
Dorm Life I love living in the dorms. They keep it clean and they always come and fix anything that is needing fixing.
Academic Rigor Some of the teachers you may have are still students themselves so that don't have a real good idea of how to teach yet so it makes the class harder.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to go online and check often to make sure you have everything that is required so you aren't blind sided. You need to go to class because you retain most of the information in the lectures. Do your homework!!! Homework and attendance is a big influence on your grade.
In three sentences I love the classes but some other things need to be changed. For a technological school the wifi is down a lot and without the internet I can't do my homework. The staff will work with you also to help you improve anything at all.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never felt threatened and never hear of anything happening. It is still important to remain smart, watch you back, and prepare as if the world was ending.
Great for these types of students Everyone. We welcome all and embrace deversity.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Blizards---- we take square pieces of paper to the basketball games and cause a blizard by throwing all the paper into the air! Tech was run by steam way back in the day and we still have the steam pipes that run all under campus. Those pipes are actually accessible if you are looking for an adventure!
Bang for the buck Tech is wonderful for the price you pay. You wont get a better education in Tennessee for the money.
What to do for fun Cookeville has lots of hiking and outdoor activities. We have gone white water rafting, caving, and hiking! A lot of students make regular trips to the square down town to go for coffee, listen to live music, or walk around the park. Oh! I can't forget about meeting friends at the two local doughnut shops and playing card games or studying!
Food and Dining Tech has outsourced their dinning services to a company that no one is really fond of. Thankfully, the local community offers special discounts in the various eateries and I am able to find yummy food all around town!
Dorm Life I LOVE the residential halls. I have lived on campus all three years of my journey so far and don't intend to move off campus until I go to graduate school. I love the community and all the halls are so nice. There is always something going on in my building and it has really helped my get involved on campus and become a better person.
Academic Rigor Tennessee Tech is a wonderful engineering school. Therefore, we have very strong math and science departments. Please don't let this scare you away! Tech is committed to educating you and making you a well rounded person!
Tips for prospective students Cookeville is known to be a windy city! We have the best doughnuts you will ever have tasted. Be prepared to be changed when you come to college, Tech will get in your soul and stay there forever. Lastly, STAY GOLDEN!
In three sentences Tennessee Technological University is one of the best places to pursue education because of the professors who take time to know you by name, the beautiful campus campus, and the friendly faces scattered throughout campus. Tech feels like a smaller university, but still offers everything that a large university has to offer. Lastly, everyone on campus is committed to learning and we all share in this journey as life-long learners.

Categories Comments Food and Dining For me personally I think that the food isn't really that great and I would recommend getting the smallest meal plan you can if you have to get one and just get food for your dorm. That will probably be the healthiest and cheapest option.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms really isn't that bad. You get to meet a lot of different people and community showers aren't really that bad because everyone is on different schedules so there are very few people in there at a time.
Academic Rigor The academics are great here. Engineering is probably the biggest thing here so that means that all of the math classes are challenging and so are so of the science classes. I am studying Business so the classes aren't too bad but I am challenged in my classes and I do study a good amount and.
Tips for prospective students When you go off to college at first you will be excited and you will feel free and think you can do whatever you want. Just remember that school is very important, I know some students that have wrecked their GPA because they lost their focus and put other things first. college is fun so go out and have fun, but just remember why you are there and you will do fine.
In three sentences I really like the atmosphere of the campus. Everyone is very friendly, and the professors are very accessible. The classes are a great size and it makes the learning environment ideal, and helps with students who need the one on one contact.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Never felt unsafe at this campus, but if I ever did I don't believe I would choose campus police to come rescue me.
Greek Life Some cool fraternities and sororities here at Tech. However, don't jump into Greek Life. You really need to access your specific situation and evaluate whether or not you can balance everything that Greek life throws at you with school work on top.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus You can't talk about strange traditions without talking about the constant flow of kids walking down the train tracks right behind the New Hall's that seem to lead to no where. Turns out, that's where everyone goes to Wind down after classes. Apparently after a quarter mile down the tracks is some old train station that everyone seems to hang around. Proceed with caution!
What to do for fun Most people go to the movies or go out to eat. Cookeville doesn't really have much to offer in the way of fun things to do so most kids just usually end up face down in a bush near a fraternity house.
Food and Dining The Cafe is very good, I however wish they had more options that were quicker. Swoops is always packed on lunch hour, avoid.
Dorm Life The old dorms have a pretty good thing going on if you can overlook the rust & mold everywhere. The New Hall's are nice & comfy, but you don't really get to meet very many people. Also remember, New Hall is roughly $700 A MONTH per student.
Academic Rigor If you are an Engineering/Sciences major they really have a rigorous courseload, but otherwise you can almost skate by.
Tips for prospective students Live on campus for your first year, parking is too much of a hassle to deal with especially if it is your first time at school as well. Make sure you double check all of your financial aid papers, the financial aid office has been known to make the occasional error. Don't room with your high school friends, 90% of the time it ends badly. A random roommate albeit may be intimidating, but in the long run usually turn out much better for kids and his friendships.
In three sentences Small feel, friendly people, great atmosphere, and all at a very fair price. Teachers are always very fair, some much more than others of course. Try living in the dorms to experience the college atmosphere, and all this place has to offer!

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never felt unsafe on the campus. A main road runs through the campus, and drivers are very aware of the students crossing the street.
Greek Life Greek life is very noticeable on campus, and is a strong presence on campus. Rush week is very big, and many students are personally invited by members of the Greek life programs to enjoy different rush activities.
Great for these types of students I would again like to state that STEM majors would be most comfortable within Tech. However, the school is expanding the other departments, and this gap should quickly be minimized. The school is also home to a very strong Honors Program, which requires more in depth studies and commitment. The Honors Program is not overwhelming, and prospective students may wish to look into enrolling in the program.
Bang for the buck Tennessee Tech has been consistently ranked as a school where you will get the most Bang for the Buck. All the facilities at Tech you would hope for are present, and the school is renovating and improving at a noticeable rate, only enforcing this endowment.
What to do for fun Student interests on campus are surprisingly varied, and a prospective student should easily be able to find an activity on campus they would enjoy. From sports to live action role playing with padded swords, the actives on campus are enjoyable and new. Tech is a bit of a suitcase school however, and the weekends are home to a less full campus.
Food and Dining Food and dining at Tech is improving. The meal plan for students is flexible, and a student can exchange a meal at any food establishment on campus with only one exception:, the library's small cafe. In addition to meal exchanges, students also have Flex Dollars which can be spent at any location. These act as a way to purchase food outside of the three meal exchanges you are permitted a day. The dining options on campus are expanding. In addition to the main cafeteria on campus which has a buffet style serving option, different fast food restaurants are either opened or opening, including Papa Johns and Chick-Fil-A. Off campus options are varied yet delicious, and typically honor student discounts.
Dorm Life The dorms vary based on which building you are in. The two buildings designated New Hall are noticeably nicer compared to the rest of the dorms, yet are more expensive to live in. Though dorms are being renovated and improved daily underneath the new President and Provo of Students, they are still slightly disappointing without any personal amenities. Once I brought in my own carpet and curtains, as well as purchased a loft for my bed, it became much more pleasurable to live in. I do not live in a New Hall building.
Academic Rigor Having only taken general education classes so far, my first impression has been favorable. Nearly all my classes were taught by full time professors holding doctorates, and the classes which were not taught by them were not lacking in regards to depth and fulfillment. My one complaint is that the current registration progress is somewhat stressful, and you may have to work to get your schedule to fully fit within what you envision.
Tips for prospective students Understand that this school is primarily a school for STEM students: you may not fully fit in if you study a major more involved with the liberal arts. Greek life is very active here, and there is not one particular type of student who can become involved with a fraternity or sorority. One building is being fully renovated per semester, and different amenities are being installed daily campus wide. The minor inconvenience of dealing with construction is small in comparison to the more modern conveniences which will soon be available, but some prospective students could be deterred from this fact.
In three sentences Tennessee Tech University is a research based school, priding itself on the strong STEM major studies it can provide. Located at an accessible location within the state of Tennessee, the nearby locations vary from student hangouts to state parks to relax in. The school is undergoing a positive transformation with new leadership, and students are enjoying new classes and accommodations being found at Tech.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Tennessee Tech rated 12th in the NATION for value of the education they offer!
Food and Dining Normal college campus food. The main dining hall is a little dated by clean and functional. The ladies running the cash register seem to be moms to many of the students.
Dorm Life The traditional dorm rooms (the old dorm rooms) are little shoe boxes with common restrooms. The new dorm rooms are better then average with restrooms in suite and all the normal amenities.
Academic Rigor The school is well known locally to have a rigorous Engineering program and hence is well respected.
Tips for prospective students My biggest tip is to visit the campus in person, especially during a normal school day in the fall when the campus is busy and full of fall colors.
In three sentences After visiting this campus I am excited by the opportunity to attend school here. Prior to beginning my school search I was worried about be able to afford college and about being accepted into a school I liked. During my visit the students and faculty made me feel like I was important and that they had a lot to offer at a price I could afford.

Categories Comments Campus Safety With crime as high as it is in most university areas these days, TTU makes you feel safe and protected. Women do not fear walking to classes at night. Security is visible and easily accessible.
Greek Life No opinion.
Clubs and Activities Geek clubs, science fiction, Harry Potter, Greek life, Christian, or exploratory clubs are everywhere. They offer sports, concerts, and other fun activities to diverse studies. You are introduced to many outlets and given many choices to fill your time.
Great for these types of students Engineering students have all the gambits available. Nursing and teaching students have options to make it more affortable. Those who are serious about their education will find it most accomodating.
Bang for the buck TTU offers more for your money. There are many ways to get financial aid to cover costs. If you are into an engineering field or technical interest, you will receive all that you need and job placement assistance too.
What to do for fun They offer various concerts on campus. There are sports complex to get involved in basketball, football, volleyball, etc. There are clubs to cover almost any topic from science fiction, quittage, music, or art.
Food and Dining Cafeteria food is great Availability of various foods keep it interesting. They offer nutritious and flavorful food
Dorm Life Rooms are small and cramped Furnishings are well used Locations are close to all classes
Academic Rigor Depending on your major, it is quite clear what the requirements to graduate are, and there are classes to accomodate that. They evaluate your level and place you in classes meant to help you grow from there. They give you plenty of variety in course selection and difficulty stage.
Tips for prospective students Apply early to get classes you want and placement in a dorm. Get out and get involved Ask for help from the advisors, your residential aide, your big sibling to achieve your goals.
In three sentences Friendly and welled planned campus and staff that make it easy to find classes and complete requirements. Various majors availalbe to cover potential interests Creative outlets for sports, arts and clubs are helpful.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are plenty of things to do! Intramural sports, clubs, greek life...the list is endless!
Food and Dining Tech has a great variety of places to eat!
Dorm Life The new dorms are great! The halls are separated, so you don't necessarily have to much contact with others in your building, but there are a lot of residence hall activities to make up for it!
Academic Rigor I think that Tech is great when it comes to academics. A lot of the classes may be hard, but there are always people willing to help you study and ace the class.
Tips for prospective students Come tour the campus! It's a beautiful campus and the tour is very informative. You learn about anything and everything you'll need to know to start your future here!
In three sentences Tennessee Tech is a great school. Both academically and socially. The students, staff, and professors you meet here are all very friendly.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Tech Police are always around late at night making sure that the Halls are safe from any outsiders that may venture onto campus. There are also emergency phones located around campus that, when activated, contact the Tech Police and the city Police. There are AED units located in main buildings and, when taken out from their case, contacts the Police and hospitals.
Greek Life Greek life is great! I recommend every student to be a part of the Greek life. Being a part of something that is bigger than yourself humbles you, which can lead to self satisfaction and better grades. When one joins the Greek life, they are introduced to a lot of new people that are glad to help you with your homework and study. They also value education. They tell you to go to class and finish homework before going to meetings or activities.
Clubs and Activities There are various clubs at Tech that students can join that will fill in the free time that most students have. Most of the clubs do fun activities but if a club isn't for you, then there are a lot of other activities that will be e-mailed to every student.
Great for these types of students Tech is great for all types of students. However, students do have to try at school and study. Students who never studied in high school, like me, will have to here.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I have read about there being a dog buried on campus that was the 1st President's dog. (President of the school)
Bang for the buck Tech is known for being the best value of education in the south. With its relative low tuition cost and high academic ranking, Tech is the ideal school for most families.
What to do for fun The Halls offer a lot of activities for the attendants. There are also Fraternities and Sororities that participate in intramural sports such as flag football. If the Greek life is not for you then you can join an intramural team and play against other non-Greek students.
Food and Dining I use the unlimited meal plan in the cafeteria and the breakfast and dinner servings are the best of the day. When you swipe in the cafeteria you can get how ever much you like. There are also other alternatives. You can choose to get Starbucks or eat at a local business that is on campus.
Dorm Life I am currently in the new dorms that were built and it is quiet when you need it. There are a lot of activities that the Hall offers in case you get bored or would like to meet new people. The other students are very respectful if you need silence for studying or homework,
Academic Rigor Tech is a big engineering school but offers a variety of other majors and concentrations. The academic rigor is based on your major. Engineering majors have it a lot harder than business majors.
Tips for prospective students Time management is imperative. If you mange your time properly, you will have limited trouble in college. Also, try to get done with your work as soon as possible. This will reduce the amount of stress college puts on you, thus you will actually perform better in class.
In three sentences Tech has a great campus and friendly people. The professors and counselors are here for you and care about your grades. Tech is one of the best valued schools in the south.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Perch is located inside one of the dorms and has a pool table, ping pong table, and a foosball table. It also has a couple of restaurants and a place for meal exchange. It's kind of hidden, so ask an upperclassmen if you need help finding it.
What to do for fun There are always activities happening. If you like sports you can get involved with an intramural team. If sports aren't your thing there's always the craft center. There are guest speakers and concerts on campus a lot too.
Food and Dining The food here is actually really good! There is a variety of options at every meal. From burgers, to a salad bar, to pizza, to a pasta bar...you name it and they have it. Not to mention the fast food chains such as Backyard Burger, Papa Johns, and more located in buildings around campus.
Dorm Life I love living in the dorms. There are aspects that aren't so great, but the good definitely outweighs the bad. I have a great roommate and it's so fun to decorate and make the room cute! I definitely recommend getting a bed loft. It allows you to have SO much extra space.
Academic Rigor I haven't been here long, but classes are pretty challenging. But that's to be expected for college level classes.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to fill our the scholarship application form from TTU! I received scholarships that I didn't even know existed just by filling it out.
In three sentences Tennessee Tech is such a great school. The campus is beautiful and easy to find your way around. Everyone here is very nice and really helpful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Cookeville is a pretty safe town in general. There are on campus police that patrol the campus, sometimes a bit too much, issuing parking tickets and such.
Greek Life There are four sororities in addition to a service sorority. These are great if you want to get involved with that type of organization. There are also many fraternities available for male students.
Clubs and Activities I stated this earlier but Tech has many clubs for all interests!
Great for these types of students Engineers! TTU has a great a large engineering program.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are many interesting stories. There is a fire hydrant monument on the quad dedicated to Dammit the dog that used to roam campus for years in the '80s. The golden eagle on top of Derryberry hall was stolen by students many years back from a hotel. The university ended up buying it from the hotel so it could stay up there.
Bang for the buck At Tech, you are really getting a good deal for the money it takes to attend school there.
What to do for fun On campus, there are many sporting events to attend for fun. Also, the backdoor play house will put on plays a few times a year which are always great productions. They also host open mic night occasionally which is always entertaining. Once a semester the Student Government Association puts on a big concert in the Hoop which is the basketball gym. Its always great! A fairly big name artist will come, with the genres rotating every semester. Artists such as Dierks Bentley, B.o.B, Gym Class Heroes, The Goo Goo Doll, and even Aziz Ansari came and performed! Around Cookeville, there is a movie theater, a bowling alley, many places to go hiking and camping, golf courses, and more! There's always something going on!
Food and Dining Tennessee Tech has a fair amount of options to choose from as far as food. They have a few convenience stores around campus so you can just pick up some snacks for your dorm or on the way to class. There is the caf as well which honestly doesn't always serve up the most delicious food. Then there is Swoops or The Grill as older students call is, which has four different types of food choices. One changes every year but while I was attending there was a sandwich area, like Subway, a burger place, a wing place, and a salad/noodle place. The last place you can go eat on campus is the Perch which has a Grill Nation and a Papa Johns pizza. Oh, and there is a cafe in the library as well with soups, salads, fruits, and sandwiches, but I feel its a bit pricey. With all these great options why am I giving food and dining 3 stars? Because the main area, the caf, just doesn't serve good food, and it will cost you an arm and a leg to get come healthy food on campus. There is a grocery store, IGA, within walking distance however!
Dorm Life While I cannot speak for myself because I never lived in the dorms, I spent quite a bit of time in the dorms! Many of my friends lived in the dorms. Most of the dorms are older and are community style. Most people kept their doors open and made great friends with the people on their floors. The new dorms, New Hall North and South, each have their own bathroom so there isn't as much interaction between people on your dorm floor; however, these dorms are quite nicer because they are so new.
Academic Rigor Of course this also depends on the classes you take. I rate Tennessee Tech a 4/5 stars in academic rigor based on my personal experience as well as experiences from friends there. While the entry level courses are typically easier, the upper levels offer a good challenge and learning experience.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to attend all of the events at orientation. Some may seem lame but you will meet new people already and learn a lot. Don't be afraid to join clubs that interest you, and don't worry about not finding a club because there are plenty!
In three sentences Tennessee Technological University is a great school to attend if you are looking to attend college in Tennessee in a smaller town. The university population of approximately 11,000 students makes it the perfect environment for meeting new people while getting to know your professors and advisers. In addition, Tennessee Tech also offers a wide range of excellent academic programs for students to become involved in not just inside the classroom but outside of the classroom as well.

Food and Dining i really like swoops and all the different options that were there. the cafeteria food was up in the air. sometimes i liked it and sometimes i didn't. my biggest problem was that by the end of the year, i got tired of the same food.
Dorm Life last year, i stayed in cooper (a co-ed dorm in ghetto quad). it wasn't my best experience, simply because it wasn't very social. this year i will be in crawford (the all girls dorm) and i'm pretty excited. i've heard great things about it.
Academic Rigor classes- show up and pay attention. it's important. also, make sure you talk to your professors if you're struggling. i was doing very poorly in my calculus class and i figured i would fail. i talked to my teacher and let him know i was struggling. i worked hard and pulled out a C, which i was very happy with.
Tips for prospective students Meet lots of new people and don't be afraid to join groups. Make sure you have friends who are willing to hang out on the weekends because it can get boring if you have nobody to hang out with. Go to events on campus. It's a great way to meet people, spend time, and have fun for free.
In three sentences Tennessee Tech is a good school that for me just felt right. It's the right size, the perfect distance from home, and a decent price. Last year was my first year and I did well in classes, made new friends, and found a second home.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Extremely safe with its own police station on campus and emergency phones around campus
Great for these types of students Engineers, geeks, and tech lovers.
What to do for fun Cookeville does not have that much to do, with a laser tag arena, a farmers market mall, and a video game store that sells everything from the Atari systems to Gameboys to PS3's. The school usually has something going on the get students involved, whether it be a student run, student government run, or RA run event (RA stands of Residential assistant). Also once a semester a big name band, comedian, or public speaker comes to preform free of charge for the student body.
Food and Dining The food options are vast. Several fast food like shops and an all you can eat Buffet at the cafeteria are a nice change from the high school bland and repetitious food choices.
Dorm Life Being a Freshman, dorm life is still new to me. I had a bad experience because of my roommate, but the RA's are extremely helpful. Life in the dorms is usually pretty laid back and everyone is friendly, up until quiet hours before and during exams when everyone closes shop to study.
Academic Rigor The classes vary by the teacher. Some are extremely easy and others, such as the physics courses have a grade of 34 set for an A on most assignments. Most classes do provided some challenge even if they are the easy classes and most thrive on thinking outside of the box.
Tips for prospective students On the note that if you don't like to hang around the school, Cookeville can be a little dry. There is not all that much to do and nothing really close, so bring some friends to college with you.
In three sentences Tennessee Tech is a great school. The Courses they offer, the teachers they hire, and the community created by the school is good for personality type. Plus there is almost always something going on at the school, whether it be the Baja Car Races, Engineering Week, or a job fair, school life rarely gets boring.

Bang for the buck All depends on what you do
What to do for fun They have activities, but most are not on the weekends. Separate dorms have small events for themselves. They town is small, but has a few things like movies, laser tag, club, stores for shopping.
Food and Dining Most of the food is good, but none of it is really that healthy. There is a selection but not a huge one.
Dorm Life Depending on the building, some are very unsound proof. They are a decent size but could be bigger. No kitchens make it hard to eat healthy.
Academic Rigor It is not bad but that all depends on the class and professors
Tips for prospective students Look into everything; dorm space, other people on the floor you want to live on, price, food, professors, fees, classes. Look into everything

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Our three big majors are engineering, music, and nursing, so obviously those going into those majors should definitely consider coming here. Even if you aren't in one of those you will still love the school.
Bang for the buck Tuition is very cheap and the education is amazing. The amount of fun you have while you're there is great and there are tons of ways to be involved.
What to do for fun There aren't a ton of things to do in town are limited as it is so small, but there are a few things such as laser tag, movies, etc. There are several things close to Cookeville such as mountains and parks where you can hike, camp, canoe, and all sorts of things.
Tips for prospective students As a prospective student do not come because it was easy for you to get in. It will be a lot of work when you get here. The mindset that just because it was easy to get in means it will be easy to stay will kill your grades and you will fail.
In three sentences Although the school is relatively easy to get accepted into, once you get there you really have to work to stay there. The level of education at this school compared to other schools I visited is on a different level. Overall this would be one of my top picks for my major.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Tech is a very safe campus and has blue pay phones set up all along campus for if you ever feel unsafe you just pick up the phone and a local campus police will be there within 1 minute.
Food and Dining Tech offers a cafeteria-like setting so you can eat as much as you want for a flat rate cost. There are also fast food chains in the main building (Back Yard Burger, Mondos, etc). Located in multiple dorms are Outtakes and pizza for students to purchase.
Dorm Life Many to choose from and there are different socials that go on throughout the year to get to know your dorm-mates. Dorms are super clean and roomy for those worried about space.
Academic Rigor Academics are a high priority at Tennessee Tech. Students who graduate from here are hard-working and companies know this. If you have Tennessee Tech graduate on your resume, you are in good shape for many jobs.
Tips for prospective students - Get involved around the campus (not only with greek life) - Get to know your professors...It will help you in the long run
In three sentences Tennessee Tech University is a great university for those wanting to experience a great education as well as a loving college community. Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Perch is where most people are. Thursdays is Bobs(country club).
Bang for the buck Really expensive with not a lot of financial help. The facilities aren't up to date, especially dorms.
What to do for fun Walmart. Bobs. Leaving town.
Food and Dining Cafeteria is versatile... but that's not always good. The only good food places close on Friday at 5:30 and open on Monday mornings around 10. Starbucks is really quick.
Dorm Life Only two good dorms are new hall north and new hall south but they are crazy expensive. All the others are old and in the process of being remodeled, which is really annoying when its 7a.m. and you want some sleep. Better get used to living right under your roommate and being to hot or cold.
Academic Rigor Many teachers are foreigners and hard to understand. Then again you will have American teachers who make it overly hard due to their infatuation with the subject.
Tips for prospective students Join clubs in high school so you will be more appealing. Get the lowest meal plan here and stock up your dorm.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Like I stated previously, the bang for your buck is amazing. The education you receive at Tech is unbelievable for the fees a student pays. I would rank a top school in the country for this topic.
What to do for fun There are always activities going on around on campus. Its actually quite exciting. Sporting activities, intramurals, concerts make up the majority of the fun on campus. Cookeville is in a great location to go out and have fun. We have two major lakes near by with many parks. The city of Cookeville is a lively community with many exciting things to do.
Food and Dining The food around campus is great. we have two cafeteria's in our University Center. on top of that, we have major food labels spread in those cafeteria's. Tech has added a Starbucks and sandwich shop in the University library which was a very smart move. It's right there when you need it no matter where you are at!
Dorm Life I cannot comment on this, because i did not live in the dorms.
Academic Rigor Tennessee Tech is very serious about your future and they show that through your education. Seriousness is very good at Tech, because this is your future. They expect you to strive for your very best possible, and it does pay off. Tech treats you as if you were at a major college to help you learn the best way possible.
Tips for prospective students Stay on your toes, study hard and work hard, and if you are still have trouble, the staff will make sure you understand it fully.
In three sentences Tennessee Tech is a great small town university with life and great faculty and staff that's willing to go out of their way to help you out in any way possible. Food and Dining The food is pretty good, but there isn't the biggest variety. They chose quality over quantity.
Dorm Life I found some of my best friends in the dorm. There is always something to do and there are always people to hang out with. Great for hanging out and relaxing or sitting in your room to get work done.
Academic Rigor Teachers are easy to work with, but they still expect you to get your work done. They are all there to help. If you're willing to put in work, you'll make good grades.
Tips for prospective students Apply early and check your email. Sign up for the earliest orientation date possible. Make sure to visit Tech to make sure that it's the right fit for you

What to do for fun There are all kinds of activities going on on the campus at all times. Whether it be fund raisers, celebrations, to club events ther is always something.
Food and Dining The food is pretty good. I will say that it's hard to eat anything decent on the weekends because everything opens late and closes early.

Great for these types of students This is a well rounded school for any type of race or ethnicity.

Bang for the buck I would say that any college you go to is going to shoot you in the foot with excruciating government pain, but TTU isn't bad.
What to do for fun Depending on how much money you have there are tons of things to do. From just going out to the movies, hiking the close fall's, or just doing some on campus activities.
Food and Dining The food is well prepared and there is a broad spectrum of foods to choose from. Also, for the early classes they have a Starbucks in the middle of campus.

Academic Rigor I am only a freshman, but I have heard that if I stay in class and study while staying focused on the academic path it isn't too bad.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Tennessee Tech is best for always providing entertainment even if its the simple Tuesday give aways they are always there to keep their alumni involved. From free admission to all sports events, to movie nights on the quad its easy to forget all about your family back home.
Food and Dining While the campus Cafeteria always has a variety of food to pick from there never seems to be enough time for a sit down meal. Enjoying a Papa John's pizza or Mondo's sub while working on your studies right before class is much quicker and relaxing.
Dorm Life When you first walk into your dorm its a little overwelming to go from a 13x12 room to yourself to a 10x15 room with a stranger in the bed beside you. It's very easy to make it your home tough a bad loft is highly advised giving yourself more room, and roommates can always be adjusted.
Academic Rigor Tennessee Tech has it challenges in the classroom. Thankfully the staff at Tennessee Tech is understanding and very helpful always flexible to work with death's or trials in the family. Yes it is hard but that is simply helping you learn the skill needed.
Tips for prospective students I know it's hard to imagine yourself on your own, but in my surprise life is so much more enjoyable. No more curfews, no more chores just you are your abilities. Be sure to bring your personality because there is someone for everyone here at Tennessee Tech.

Categories Comments Campus Safety TN Tech makes you feel very safe. Located at many places across campus are phones disguised as pay phones, but once you pick them up, you are on the phone with the university police. They drive around all day long, so you usually know where one is. It makes you feel alot better.
What to do for fun Like I said earlier, there are lots of extracurricular activities available at TN Tech. Including all the sports, sororities, fraternities, clubs, etc. There are more than a few to chose from, one of them has to be right for you!
Food and Dining The food is great. There is always a good meal in the Cafeteria, as well as the little fast food places all around campus. Not to mention, you are within five miles of all the food and dining places in town.
Dorm Life The Dorms are not the most beautiful thing you'll ever see, but it's a dorm room. The new halls North and South are the largest and prettiest dorms, but ALL of the others are just as acceptable. If someone asks you if you want a bed loft, say Yes!
Academic Rigor The classes at TN Tech may be a little more difficult that your hometown community college, but they will get you ready for what's to come. Whether it's straight to work after Tech, or to Graduate College, you're prepared.
Tips for prospective students If you hear about SOAR, don't think it's going to be boring just because it's required. Coming from High School you may be used to being watched 24/7. But SOAR is a big eye-opener that you're on your own, and the staff at TN Tech lets you know they're there to help!

Food and Dining Never went to the cafeteria or other places to eat on campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety at Tennessee Technological University is extremely important. TTU supports efforts to keep the campus community safe in the daily work environment, promote emergency preparedness and coordinate emergency response.
Greek Life At TTU there are several greek organizations that a student can join. If you decide to be a part of a Greek community, you will meet people from different place that has a different background from them. Within each Greek organization at TTU, there is a close bond of friendship and brother/sisterhood that only the Greek atmosphere can foster.
Clubs and Activities TTU homes over 100 organizations and clubs that are connected to academic programs, sororities, fraternites, and and religous groups. One of the best ways to decide if you want to be a part of a particular club or activity is to talk to someone that is already involve with that group or activity.
Great for these types of students Tennessee Technological University is great for any type of students that want to excel and have a successful future. It is especially for students that want to live on a campus small enough to where you do not feel lost in a crowd. One of the reason why I selected TTU was due to the size of the campus and the friendly atmosphere.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus TTU has a minority affairs office. The traditions of the Minority Affairs Office is provides programs designed to encourage cultural awareness as well as educational opportunities outside the classroom. This is done by inviting different minority leaders or performers to campus for a concert or presentation. This is also done by providing a library and computer lab designed to maximize the personal and academic development of minority students.
Bang for the buck Tennessee Technological University is located in Cookeville, Tennessee. The atmosphere of Cookeville, Tennessee is very friendly. As a young adult leaving home for the first time to attend college, I think it is very important to be surrounded with positive and friendly people. This is the feeling you will get from people at Tennessee Technological University and Cookeville, Tennessee.
What to do for fun There are several things you can do for fun as a student at TTU. One thing I suggest would be attending the football and basketball games on campus. This way you would get a chance to hang out with your friends and met knew friends. The different activities are usually posted up in the university center on campus. As a student you should constantly check the college newspaper and the bulletin boards around campus for different activities to do on campus.
Food and Dining There are several differents food programs the students at Tennessee Technological University can sign up for. It is a requirement that all freshmen at Tennessee Technological University signs up for a meal plan if they are staying on campus. The food at Tennessee Technological University is very good.
Dorm Life The dorm life at Tennessee Technological University is very comfortable and the atmosphere is very friendly. I like living in the dorms because it makes it easier for me to get to class. Living in the dorms also make it easier to make new friends.
Academic Rigor Tennessee Technological University cares a lot about the students academics. There are several ways you can sign up for tutors through different organizations on campus. There are several different labs students can go to to obtain help. The professors make themselves available to the students by appointments or emails.
Tips for prospective students Three tips I have for prospective students are the following: 1. Visit any college campus first before enrolling into school. 2. Do not bring more than you need to college. 3. Have a life outside your dorm room, but participating in different on campus activities.
In three sentences Tennessee Technological University has one of the best college campus in Tennessee. The campus at Tennessee Technological University is small enough to where a new college student would not feel lost. The atmosphere of the campus is very friendly.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are patrolling police cars everywhere. I do recommend for extra safety to go out at night with a friend. If you are living close or in Tech village, be careful when you go there. Again, make sure a friend is there or is close in case anything happens.
Clubs and Activities Though I'm only in a couple of clubs, there is actually a plethora of clubs and
Food and Dining Most of the food from Swoops are really good. Cafeteria food is almost like the usual cafeteria food in high school, but slightly better. There are good restaurants and stores around Tech when you have had enough of the food inside the school. There are perks also, as there are two coffee places in school like Starbucks, and the new Au Bon Pain, which has some really good pastries and serve food there nice and fresh. The prices maybe a bit hefty, but the meal plans that you get will help pay for them, and makes up for the long lines.
Dorm Life Interaction between dormmates for me have been pretty awesome. There is always something to do in your spare time as the Resident Assistants plan something to do almost every month or week.
Academic Rigor Most classes that I have taken are pretty good, and yet hard. The hardest ones to take are the Physics classes. You have to be prepared to have a bunch of homework and tests and quizzes happening on the same day.
Tips for prospective students Bring rain boots for Cookeville's unexpected weather. It's best to also start scheduling your time to study and such, especially if you want to have some social time. Also, if you are going to eat right before your next class, make sure that the time you go in doesn't have much or no people waiting in line.
In three sentences It's has its peaceful days, and it also has activities going on practically everyday. It is a pretty good place to be if you like smaller towns (compared to Nashville) and more quiet time to read.

Bang for the buck this is a really good school and one of the less expensive schools in state.
What to do for fun there are beautiful hiking places and waterfalls around, plenty of good restaurants, and for city life nashville is about 1 hour away and knoxville about an hour and a half.
Food and Dining there are not many options open late or on the weekends, but the food quality is pretty good.
Dorm Life the dorms have such fun communities of people. not all of them are very nice, but if you are desiring to make friends and get to know the people around you then it is definitely worth it.
Academic Rigor lower division classes can be difficult but are helpful in the decision of picking a major. upper division classes are also difficult but the content is helpful for future careers. professors are willing to assist in any way if students ask for help.
Tips for prospective students live in the dorms and get involved! there is plenty to do and a lot of people to meet if you take the first step to go!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students every student will benefit at tech no matter their major or interests. tech is a school for awesome people. unleash your awesomeness!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the blizzard is one of the events that sets tech apart from the rest. back in the early nineteen eighties a large group of students gathered all the toilet paper from the dorms and packed the hooper eblen center for the big home basketball game against rival school, austin peay state university. unannounced at the first tech basket the students threw all of their toilet paper in the air making the hoop look like a magical winter wonderland. the style of toilet paper has changed over the years so the effect isn't quite what it used to be, but it is definitely a special tradition that sets tech aside from other schools.
Bang for the buck the price for tuition is middle of the road on the scale of college entry dues across the country. tech's price is worth every single penny. every cent of the money goes to help further the education of the student and to ease and better the learning experience.
What to do for fun although students that are new to town may disagree, cookeville is a town full of fun and possibilities. the area is home to ten or eleven parks with activities ranging from hiking and camping to swimming to paddle boats. the historic west side of cookeville, which was once a bustling train station, is now a cultural hot spot of the city featuring several different ethnic restaurants, shops, and art galleries. that alone is just the city of cookeville! campus events include a wide array of things such as, but not limited to, sporting events, free promotional handouts, and concerts. the biggest of which being the s.o.l.o. concerts. sponsored by the student government students pay an extra fee in their tuition so the school can bring in big name musical artists, such as b.o.b. and gym class heroes.
Food and Dining the food services on campus can best described as golden. although the price is very steep the amount of food and free perks you receive on the meal plan makes up for the monetary speed bump. between the four restaurants, two coffee shops, and the award winning gourmet cafeteria there is a plethora of delightful food always just a short walk and a swipe of your eagle card away.
Dorm Life dorm life is superb at tennessee tech. there is always some fun activity going on in the dorms. whether you go to a reslife sponsored pancake eating contest at one the morning or just hanging out in the common room studying for that bio test the dorms at ttu are worth the large price tag.
Academic Rigor the level of rigor of the courses offered is greatly based on which courses you take. using sites like ratemyprofessor.com can tend to help choose which instructors are more difficult and which ones are more cooky than the rest. overall the academic rigor of the university as a whole is generally fairly challenging, but most of the majors and focuses offered are considered to be quite difficult to begin with.
Tips for prospective students -buy lots of purple and gold clothing to show your true purple pride around campus. -don't just assume you know everything about tech. take the campus tour. -don't be afraid to talk to people and professors you don't know. they can and will help you immensely . -don't stop believing.
In three sentences tennessee tech is an awesome school in the mid-south with a little something for everybody. fair prices, great location, and educated professors make this school one to definitely not just brush to the maybe/definitely not list when searching for a school. whether you want to be an engineer, a farmer, or a musician; the possibilities are endless. .

Categories Comments Food and Dining There are plenty of options on campus, and close by. On campus you have more than just the cafeteria: Starbucks, Backyard Burger, Papa John's and other options keep you from the drone of the same cafeteria cycle. However, eating on campus is still going to be expensive.
Dorm Life Dorms are expensive, but that goes for any college. Living on campus gives the opportunity to make connections faster, and with greater ease than living at home. The dorm quality greatly differs depending on where you end up.
Academic Rigor Since Tennessee Tech has a great focus on engineering, the Math department is renown for being challenging. All other areas of study vary from professor to professor, but each hold their own standard of challenging.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students It is perfect for someone who is looking for a not to big/not to small school. Tech is known for its engineering program, and now also the nursing program.
Tips for prospective students Tour the campus and talk to students!
Bang for the buck I had looked at many other schools, and in my particular area I am in a higher rated department, paying way less than average.
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful and for the most part everyone is very friendly and inviting. There are many activities on campus, numerous clubs, and a great greek life program. As long as you bring a positive attitude, you will quickly assimilate into college life at Tech.
Am learning a lot The general courses are wonderful and challenging. Speaking from experience TTU's classes are on par with any other college, if not more challenging than some more expensive, larger colleges. They offer just the right amount of personalization, because the classes are not tiny but also not all huge lectures.

Tips for prospective students Tennessee Tech is a great school for any student with any academic background, all you can do is work as hard as you can and that's all anyone here can ask from you.
Bang for the buck Tennessee Tech has great intramural sports, a great library, and a college atmosphere to die for; staying here is worth the penny you pay.
Am enjoying being here The campus life is great, the food is really good, and the people around are very nice and helpful.
Am learning a lot This college shows that the transition from high school to college is a very tough one. The professors are great at what they do and are outstanding at challenging you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you love diversity and different people to talk too, then Tech is a great opportunity to make friends with almost anyone.
Tips for prospective students Don't give up, and continue to do your best everyday. You can do it! :)
Bang for the buck Yep. The cost is low and great for any income. Just try it out!
Am enjoying being here For my first year here, I am loving the atmosphere and the students and faculty. Everyone is nice, but not too nice.
Am learning a lot Here at Tech, you learn things you once knew but forgot. The teachers help you out tremendously. They don't want to see any student behind, and that's the best part. They'll give you a schedule of office hours they have, so the students can work that into their busy week.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Tech is great for any type of student! This university has so much to offer; anyone can find a home here at Tennessee Tech!
Tips for prospective students Don't start college with an over-confident attitude because it's much different from high school. Always attend class, make study groups, join a club or two, be socially involved on campus and this will make your college experience much better and well worth it!
Bang for the buck As one of the cheapest universities in Tennessee, TTU is a great college. They always help their students and are willing to go the extra mile to make sure each student is satisfied!
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love being a student a Tennessee Tech! There is so much to do on campus. From an academic aspect, there are many clubs for particular areas of study, available tutoring, great professors, etc. Socially speaking, Tech could not have a better variety of extra-curricular activities! From Greek life to Book Club, Tech has it all. Also, the campus is absolutely wonderful and people are very friendly!
Academic Rigor As a computer engineering major, math and science are my core classes. I cannot express enough how helpful all the professors in this department are and we all know how hard it is to find great math and science teachers. In addition, each and every professor I have will go the extra mile to tend to your needs if you reach out to them. Tennessee Tech could not ask for better professors; I am learning so much!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any type! TTU is probably the best engineering school in Tennessee but it also has such great other programs. I have yet to meet a student who isn't thrilled about learning here at Tech!
Tips for prospective students don't be afraid to contact TTU. Everyone is so helpful and kind. I've had to call several times to straighten financial needs and schedule information out but the people are so helpful. also, try to visit campus! It's beautiful and is the 2nd safest campus in TN. You'll learn a lot from visiting and just seeing the campus is one of the reasons I knew I wanted to go here!
Will enjoy being here yes! The couple times I have been to TTU have been wonderful experiences. All of the teachers and staff that I have met are so friendly and helpful and even the students who are already at TTU are great helps!

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to ask questions! Everyone at TTU is so friendly and so open to answering any questions you could possibly have.
Bang for the buck In-state, and even out-of-state, tuition is a decent price. The financial aid office and scholarships are very helpful when it comes to awarding money to students. Paying for school isn't any trouble!
Will enjoy being here This campus is so diverse. You can find people here that will like anything you're interested it. Also, everyone is so friendly.
Will learn a lot The teachers are very dedicated to helping their students further their education.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students People who like small towns will like going here. There are plenty of stores to go to and restaurants but you might have to drive a little if you want to do anything else. It is also about an hour from Nashville.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you keep up with your curriculum yourself. Yes, you have an advisor but they can sometimes get confused too. So make sure you keep up with all of your classes that way you don't fall behind and graduate a semester later than planned.
Bang for the buck This is a very affordable college and there are tons of scholarships that students can get.
Am enjoying being here I like Tech because I don't have to drive far to go home when I want to.
Am learning a lot Most of my professors are interesting so that helps me retain the material they teach.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students All students are welcome at Tech. No matter where you come from, what language you speak or even what color hair you have, you will always be welcomed at Tennessee Tech!
Tips for prospective students Get out and meet new people. Don't be afraid to join a club or fraternity/sorority. Try new things and get out of your comfort zone a little bit. Keep your head up and do the best that you can. There are people all over campus that are willing to make your college experience the best that it can be.
Bang for the buck I love Tech all in all but the price is probably one of the best things about it. The prices are extremely reasonable and won't burn a hole in your, or your parent's pockets.
Am enjoying being here Tech is a pretty small school but it is a home away from home. It's small enough to where you can make a lot of friends and be involved on campus, but it is large enough to where you don't know everyone else that attends school there.
Am learning a lot Being at Tennessee Tech is great for someone who enjoys having a mix of small and large classes. My freshman year at tech I had all small classes. My largest class had around 40 people which made learning a lot easier. Each student had a better chance to have one on one time with the professor if they had questions or concerns.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students These school is great for the type of student that is eager to learn and willing to put forth the effort. If you are the type of student that likes to be push to exceed the expectations then this is the type of school for you.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to ask anything from the administration they are their to help you. Try to get involved as soon as possible because they sometimes help you network and that's how you meet other people and if you don't know something ask someone you think has been around for a while and they will gladly help you out.
Bang for the buck This school is worth every penny. The learning experience is priceless and the school is not to big either. Teachers are very understanding and the administration is very willing to help you with any problems that might arise.
Am enjoying being here The school is in a very peaceful and quiet town. Everyone is nice and eager to meet people like you and I. Don't be afraid to walk and talk to people because no one is mean.
Am learning a lot They will help you strive in anyway in life and prepare you for all the obstacles that will be thrown at you on the road to success

Tips for prospective students Time management is key to success. It is too easy to get caught up in the social life, and let your classes slide.
Bang for the buck I definitely think the education I am getting here is worth what I am paying for it.
Am enjoying being here This is a great school with a wonderful environment. I love it!
Am learning a lot I have really enjoyed the majority of my classes. I have learned so much and am very pleased with my progress

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If your looking for a small university with nice people and peaceful... Tech is the place for you
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus and stay on top of things.
Bang for the buck The price is ok... the main part that is expensive is housing (for the dorms with the private bathroom) I don't think it should be that expensive
Am enjoying being here It is a really fun university.I enjoy being here. the only boring part is weekends. So make sure you have something planned to do
Am learning a lot The professors are great! They make sure your well prepared. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any student looking to further their educational endeavors! Not good for anyone planning to go to college to party and hoping to pass with minimal effort. I have already known of a few people who went here without planning giving forth any efforts in their studies, whom have dropped out the first semester.
Tips for prospective students If you don't understand the material in class, speak with a professor, cover any examples in the book, and use the resources available at Tech, such as the library or computer labs. Don't wait for help to come to you. Most of the professors are willing to meet outside of class and even outside of office hours if you can not meet then.
Bang for the buck One cannot find a better deal than this. A great school at an affordable price. A lot of resources are available, such as a large library with a large selection of online resources, and computer labs around campus. Several dining areas are located across campus with a variety of food options.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. There are a lot of computer labs and wifi areas around the campus, which allows one to take care of any business online. All of the areas around campus are kept clean and presentable. There is also a fitness center and many clubs.
Am learning a lot Most classes cover material in an efficient manner, and the material is presented in a clear manner. The professors are willing to help students outside of class. The classes cover a lot of material over a short period of time. The pace can seem intense in the beginning, but one tends to become comfortable with it after the first few weeks.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students TTU is great if you are social, shy or looking for place you won't get lost in, want a University experience with a small-town feel, or are really interested in engineering or nursing.
Tips for prospective students Look into the honors program! I went to an academic magnet school in Nashville,TN and the honors program here makes me feel like I'm back home. It's great having so many people here that are like-minded and studious like me that I can go to for academic help, especially since I live in Murphy, the honors dormitory.
Bang for the buck I'm trying to get my bachelor's degree in nursing currently and of the graduated nursing students, 100 percent pass the nursing entry exam every year.
Am enjoying being here The college community here is large enough to be interesting and have many different niches. It is also small enough to have a collaborative feel and not be too overwhelming.
Am learning a lot The teachers that I have had are wonderful and many of the classes are small enough to be fairly intimate.

Tips for prospective students If you take a tour take some time and sit outside of the UC and grab students and talk to them and ask them questions. They will give you the real answer on how things are on campus. Try and ask a couple of students and not just one though. And it is always better to go and talk to people in different offices instead of talking to them on the phone.
Bang for the buck Compared to other schools you defiantly get your education here for cheaper.
Am enjoying being here I love this school and if I could redo it I would do it all over again. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else
Am learning a lot Classes are really hard and time consuming. If you want an A in your classes you are going to have to work for them, but most of the professors are really nice and willing to help you out. Almost all of the classes are taught by actual professor and not Teacher Assistants or Graduate Students.

Tips for prospective students Try to come and check it out, it's a pretty small school, but there's a lot to see here.
Bang for the buck I do feel like I'm paying a good amount for all of my expenditures while I'm here, this is a full fledged university that doesn't skimp on the college experience, it's a fair amount of money for a college like this one.
Am enjoying being here Everyone is really friendly, and the campus and town are both really nice. there is usually a lot going on, something to do is not hard to find,
Am learning a lot All the teachers are willing to help students individually, as are the students you go to class with. tutoring and online help is available for kids who need it, I'm learning a lot myself

Categories Comments Great for these types of students TTU is great for students who are looking to have fun, but still focus on school. It's not a big party school, but there are plenty of organizations to get involved in on campus. If you're not looking for a big school, but still wanting to meet new people, TTU is for you! It's big enough that you will meet new people, but small enough that you will see some of the same people several times. I personally think that TTU is a home-like campus. It's very welcoming and inviting.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to try out new things and make new friends. College is all about where you feel the most comfortable--not necessarily where all your high school friends are going.
Academic Rigor I'm learning more than I ever expected to learn. I've done research projects that would have terrified me in high school, but are easy and somewhat fun to do now. It's great being able to take classes in subjects I'm interested in.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students It's a great Engineering school with a lot of knowledgeable professors that will help you reach your goals. Also their are a lot of upper class man that you can go to get help from.
Tips for prospective students Guided tours are great because they show you everything but also they are only showing you the good stuff. Stop a couple of students on campus ask them their major, what they like and dislike about the school, and any other questions you might have. Don't be afraid to ask most students really enjoy Tech and would be more than willing to answer a question. Oh and don't let the dorms scare you, its a small space but it works.
Bang for the buck I feel like I am making a great investment in my future by going here. I'm getting a quality education that is not draining the bank as much as if I was going to a bigger University.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy the small town feel of Tech. It's safe and cops are always patrolling so I don't have to be as nervous about walking over to the library at night. Also the campus is small so if I am running late for that 8 o'clock class I can get there in five minutes.
Am learning a lot Teachers really want you to have the best possible education that you can have here. Some teacher even bend over backwards to help you either understand the material or do better on assignments.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Tennessee Tech is one of the best business schools! Tennessee Tech has an enrollment of over 10,700 students and more than 50% of classes with 20 students or less! Tennessee Tech degrees give grads highest salary potential of all tennessee public universities! Therefore, you'll be working with a lot of amazing people!
Bang for the buck It's probably one of the least expensive schools in the state, but you get so much out of it! Definitely the bang for the buck!
Will enjoy being here There are so many kind and thoughtful people at Tennessee Tech! They have helped me tremendously throughout the application process, housing, etc! I loved the campus tour and learned so much! I know being at Tech will give me a life long successful career!
Will learn a lot There are a lot of smart people here, and I haven't heard a negative thing yet about it! When I tell everybody I am going to Tech, they say, Wow! That's a great school! Everybody is so excited for me!
