"One man can make a difference." You may have heard saying before, and if you want to be that person who changes the world, a major in international or global studies may be right for you. Majoring in international studies turns you into a global thinker - no pun intended. Courses will draw from a huge range of subjects (including geography, anthropology, ecology, science, and politics) to give you a better understanding of worldwide issues. This major differs greatly from more traditional courses of study, especially when it comes to the range of career options that open up to you after graduation. Nearly every field has been impacted by globalization, which means your unique perspective and understanding of global issues could be valuable to many private companies. If you're interested in working for the greater good, you could find work with a charity, activist group, or as a social worker.
