Scholarships Expiring February 2018

You know how easy it is to nickel-and-dime yourself until you realize you don’t have any cash left in your wallet — let’s talk about doing that, but in reverse to pay for postsecondary education! We all know that prices for schooling have gotten a tad bit out of hand, so we here at Cappex have collected our most all-encompassing scholarships (some with some hefty rewards!) to help you get ahead of student debt.

 

As you’re applying for multiple scholarships (which we 100% recommend), just keep in mind that every wad of cash you collect is a few less payments you have to make — and we haven’t even said a word about interest yet! Let’s not make this a true horror story. Anyway, dig on into this list of scholarships expiring in February 2018. Make a list of the ones you’re qualified to apply for and get your rear in gear! Postsecondary education doesn’t have to leave you with a ton of debt — it’s just a matter of making the system work for you!

SME Education Foundation Scholarships

Award: Up to $60,000

Deadline: 2/1/2018

Description: These scholarships are for graduating high school seniors, current undergraduates, and master's or doctoral degree students who are pursuing degrees in manufacturing or a related field at a two- or four-year college or university. Must be registered with STEM to apply. Multiple scholarships are available, please see website for details.

 

PRIME High School Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who commit to enroll in a manufacturing engineering or technology program at an accredited college or university as full-time freshmen in the upcoming summer or fall semester. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have an overall minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship can be used only as a credit toward books, fees, or tuition.

 

Chapter 6 — Fairfield County Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students who are enrolled in a degree program in manufacturing engineering, technology, or a closely related field in the United States or Canada. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have an overall minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given, but not limited to, residents and/or students in the eastern United States. This scholarship can be used only as a credit toward books, fees, or tuition.

 

American Nuclear Society (ANS) John and Muriel Landis Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students who are planning a career in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have greater-than-average financial need and plan to enroll in a college/university in the United States. Applicants do not need to be US citizens.

 

Jean Wright-Elson Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students pursuing their Masters degree or Ph.D. in nursing at a two-year college or four-year university the United States.

 

Ruth E. Jenkins Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for graduating African-American high school seniors.
 

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Award

Award: $7,500

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for minority graduating high school seniors who plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have achieved a minimum 1000 SAT score combined on the math and critical reading sections or an ACT composite score of 21.

 

BMI Future Jazz Master Scholarship

Award: $5,000

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: Applicants must be enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral jazz program at an accredited school. See website for details.

 

Nashville Songwriting Scholarship

Award: $5,000

Deadline: February 1st

Description: This scholarship is for college students in the US. Applicants must submit one song in order to be eligible. See website for further detail.

 

Peermusic Latin Scholarship

Award: $5,000

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for non-commerical artists who are enrolled at a college or university in the US or Puerto Rico. Applicants must submit an original song or instrumental work in a Latin genre.


 

Vogt Radiochemistry Scholarship

Award: $3,000

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for graduate and undergraduate students who are studying radioanalytical chemistry and its applications. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be undergraduate juniors or seniors, or first- or second-year graduate students at an accredited college/university in the United States. Students must be engaged in or proposing to undertake graduate or undergraduate research in radioanalytical chemistry or its applications. They must also be US citizens or hold a permanent resident visa at the time of application. Applicants should include in their "Personal Statement of Future Plans" interest in radioanalytical chemistry and its applications.

 

Colgate "Bright Smiles, Bright Futures" Minority Scholarships

Award: $1,500

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: These scholarships are for dental hygiene students who are members of groups that are currently underrepresented in dental hygiene programs at the certificate educational level. Eligible applicants include African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, and males. To qualify for these scholarships, applicants must have completed at least one year in a dental hygiene curriculum, have a 3.0 GPA, and enroll as full-time students. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and be active or student members of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).

 

Honest Beauty Award

Award: $2,500

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This award is for high school or undergraduate students. Applicants must create a 3-5 minute video that creates awareness and proposes solutions about beauty issues that impact self-image for women. Multiple topic ideas are available, please see website for complete guidelines.

 

John L. Imhoff Scholarship

Award: $1,000

Deadline: February 1st

Description: This scholarship is for students pursuing an industrial engineering degree who, by academic, employment, and/or professional achievements, have made noteworthy contributions to the development of the industrial engineering profession through international understanding. To qualify, applicants must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in an accredited IE program, or have a bachelor's degree in IE and be pursuing a master's or doctorate degree in an accredited IE program. Applicants must have a graduation date of May/June 2017 or later. Students must be nominated for this scholarship by IE department heads or faculty advisors; see website for more details.

 

Girls in STEM Award

Award: $1,000

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This award is for high school or undergraduate students. Applicants must create a 3-5 minute video that creates awareness and focuses on solutions about why so few girls choose to study STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and why these fields are largely headed by men. Multiple topic ideas are available, please see website for complete guidelines.

 

The Student Side-Hustler Scholarship

Award: $1,000

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students who have set up a side business as a means of bringing in an extra income. Students must be at least 16 years old and either be seniors in high school who will be attending college in the next academic year or be currently attending an accredited university or college.


 

E. Wayne Kay Undergraduate Scholarship

Award: Variable

Deadline: February 1st, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students who are enrolled in a degree program in manufacturing engineering, technology, or a closely related field in the United States or Canada. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have an overall minimum 3.0 GPA.

 

HonorsGradU Design A Better Future Scholarship

Award: $10,000

Deadline: February 11th, 2018

Description: This scholarship is for students with voices and visions for a better world. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors that will be attending a college or university. The application process consists of three rounds in which the students will submit a proposal, submit an artifact representing their progress and learning, and submit a final reflection that shares how their project is doing one of the following: 1) increasing connections, 2) building capacity, or 3) taking community-led action.
