This competition is for filmmakers with no previous professional experience who are enrolled in degree-granting programs and accredited colleges and universities as full-time students. Applicants must be full-time students at an accredited US college or university and the film must have been made in a teacher-student relationship within the curricular structure of that institution. The Academy does not allow for any hands-on involvement by professionals in key positions such as directors, producers, camera persons, editors, writers, or production sound mixers. Professional actors are exempt from these restrictions. Rules for foreign entries differ; see website for more extensive details and requirements.
