Gene and Lee Meyer Scholarships

Community Foundation of Western North Carolina

This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who live in Graham, Jackson, Macon, and Swain County, North Carolina, and the Qualla Boundary area. To qualify for these scholarships, applicants must have a 3.0 GPA, attend a public high school in a qualifying area, and be legal citizens of the United States. Preference will be given to: (1) well-rounded students who are motivated to pursue higher education, but need financial assistance to do so; (2) Native American Indians who can document proof of Native American heritage (at least 25%) and tribal affiliation; and (3) students transitioning out of foster care. Selection will be based on good moral character, the desire to attend college and commitment to complete degree requirements; academic ability/achievement; demonstrated financial need; leadership and community service and/or significant work experience; and extracurricular activities.

Applicants must be a graduating public high school senior from Graham, Jackson, Macon and Swain counties and the Qualla Boundary, and who will attend college in the fall following the award and be enrolled in a full-time course of study.
