The award recipients shall be selected based on the following criteria:

a.) A history of a high degree of involvement in the band or choir program
b.) A cooperative spirit, as evidenced by attendance and self-discipline
c.) A willingness to assist other band/choir members, as exhibited in peer interaction
d.) Playing or singing ability at (or above) grade level
e.) Financial need, popularity, gender, or the fact that the applicant may have received other honors shall not be considered." There shall be at least one award given each year to a Columbiana High School senior member of the band and to a senior member of the choir, if the criteria is met. The recipient for each award may be the same person. The award is for past achievement; no continuing education is required but is encouraged. The recipient shall be chosen by a committee designated by Columbiana High School according to the terms of her "Deed of Gift".
