Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative (OTEC)

This scholarship is for active members of the Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative (OTEC) and their children who receive electric service from OTEC. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must attend an accredited vocational school, technical school, college or university to pursue becoming a lineman. Applicants must have successfully held at least a part-time summer job or internship during the past year and demonstrate a coherent degree plan and a willingness to pursue a course of higher learning.

• The trade, vocational, and technical school scholarship applications are available online and may be completed from OTEC’s website.

• Paper copies of applications are also available in OTEC offices.

• Application responses may be completed by hand writing, typing or completed electronically. Be sure to observe deadlines, and review and answer each question completely to the best of your ability.

• Adult applicants pursuing advanced training may substitute one letter of recommendation from a teacher, professor or counselor with two letters of recommendation from community members.

• Full time attendance is not required of recipients receiving this award.

• Except for routine breaks in scheduled terms, attendance to a Lineman College must be contiguous throughout the award year or until a certificate of completion is obtained.

• Any unused funds remaining following successful completion of the school year may be rolled to the awardee’s next term of classes or returned to OTEC.
