Veldor Kopitzke was a Professor Emeritus of Economics for the University of Wisconsin System. He served in the US-Army Air Force during World War II. He received his BA and MBA in labor economics from UW-Madison. He then completed his PhD at UW-Madison in 1953 with a major in public finance, a secondary major in labor economics, and minors in labor and tax law. He did post graduate work at the University of Minnesota, Purdue University, and Case Institute of Technology. He taught courses at UWMadison, UW-Extension, UW- Center System, UW- Green Bay, Lawrence University and Oshkosh State University. Professor Kopitzke was active in his community throughout his life serving on many professional organizations.

Following his retirement to Hot Springs Village Arkansas, he remained an active member of his community as a member of Christ Lutheran Church, VFW Post 10483, Kiwanis Club of HSV, the HSV Democratic Club. Professor Kopitzke established this scholarship in 2004 to support students seeking a career in Business or Economics.
