In Boone, nature is your friend. If you want to do something, go for a hike, find a trail and see where it goes, take your friends to places you have never been before; be adventurous and let your inner wild-man guide you. If you let your sense of adventure take you places while you spend time at Appalachian, you will never be unhappy.

There are so many great hiking areas in and around Boone, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is a short drive away. Many students eno and slackline on campus for fun, and we even have a rock-climbing wall in the Student Recreation Center. There are also concerts constantly going on with both famous and lesser know bands and artists at Legends.

Go for a hike, or join one of Appalachian States tons of clubs. All tickets for student sports games are free, or pay 15 dollars to go biking, or kayaking with a guide.

Outdoors stuff is prominent. There are a few good bars and King Street is a nice little place to shop. It snows a lot during the winter so you might enjoy binge-watching Netflix for several months.

There is lots to do at App! Appalachian is located right next to the Blue Ridge Parkway which provides lots and lots of hiking. You can make an easy trip to Blowing Rock for an afternoon of shopping downtown and nice restaurants. App's campus is right next to King's Street, which has lots of shops and restaurants as well. King's is the go-to weekend activity at Appalachian!

One reason why I chose Appalachian State is because of how many activities there are to participate in. One could go rock climbing indoors at the Student Recreational Center or even outdoors somewhere around campus, hike on one of the numerous hiking trails, slack-line somewhere on campus, participate in club/intramural activities, or kayak/whitewater raft on one of the nearby rivers.

Join clubs, do community service, see any of the shows and go to any of the events that Appalachian's Popular Programming Society holds all over campus, every week.
