Central Michigan University was established in 1892 in Mount Pleasant, MI. Known as the “Chippewas,” the school maintains a collaborative relationship with the Saginaw Chippewa tribe located at a nearby reservation. CMU is home to Beaver Island, which is one of two university island research centers in the Midwest. The Alternative Break program at CMU is ranked third in the US and offers students the chance to travel abroad during semester breaks and study social issues.
If you are coming to Central Michigan University you should be aware of and research of the multiple residential colleges, honors college, leadership institute, and Mac Scholar programs. Many of these colleges, Business Residential College, Science and Engineering, and Health and Professions to name a few.
Get involved in clubs and student organizations as soon as possible and be social with those in your hall. You won't believe all the new friendships you'll create.
