Categories Comments In three sentences Ever since the added the nursing program this schools turn to shit. The parking $140 (overpriced) the tuition is over priced. For what you get the cafeteria food is awful. If I could rate zero I would. All this school freaking cares about is money ??. Community colleges care more about people then concordia does their students. Just becasue you're a private Christian university doesn't mean you have to over charge for everything. The staff barely cares about the students even though it's a small campus and their supposed to be loving and accepting the campus facility is awful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Adequate
Clubs and Activities Football (new program <5 years) , intramural basketball.
Great for these types of students Lutheran/Christian , prefer small campus, cold weather
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Christmas tree was decorated during the holiday.
Bang for the buck Out of state tuition is always more expensive.
What to do for fun Hockey, football games, hunting.
Food and Dining Downtown Ann Arbor has excellent pizza and Asian food. I also like Chipotle.
Dorm Life Dated. New oven installed. Tolerable.
Academic Rigor On line work necessary. Study sessions are very helpful. Library tutoring sessions if necessary. Moderately difficult study requirements.
Tips for prospective students This is a smaller campus but is very close to Ann Arbor. Driving distance to shopping and entertainment.
In three sentences Professors and football coaches really take an interest in how successful I am.

Categories Comments Campus Safety spot on always around nice guys
Clubs and Activities they have like 5 clubs. i don't think they even have any language clubs.
Great for these types of students religious rich look up the Missouri synod (on wikipedia)
Bang for the buck this is actually painful the scholarships are so pathetic its $32,000 for what I mean if you're really religious and you have no worries about money, this is definitely the school for you
What to do for fun go anywhere else but the campus unless you count church as fun
Food and Dining so bad literally the horror stories you hear about cafeterias thought it was a myth until i had to experience it myself also awful hours its like living in a nursing home
Dorm Life There are weekly devos There is a big dorm activity at the beginning of the school year
Academic Rigor Felt about the same when I went to community college, just a lot more expensive
Tips for prospective students Make sure you have a car. They will lock you out of your dorm and cut off your meal plan with no warning if they think you haven't paid them. Be ready for lots of tech problems. They will claim it's a dry campus. It's definitely not. The dorms are horribly lit They leave bleach in the bathroom so clean it out or it will ruin your towels.
In three sentences 1. Concordia is small and isolated. 2. Concordia is very religious. 3. Concordia is very expensive.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Student activities has stuff literally every weekend, spiritual life activities every night, athletic games, student clubs, intramural sports, and tons more! There is ALWAYS something going on at Concordia!! You won't be bored!
Food and Dining AWFUL. End of story. Although all college food is bad, so don't let this be your deciding factor!!
Dorm Life The dorms are kind of run down, but we have a TON of fun. And, you can only have a max of 32 people per building, so you really get to know everyone which is nice. And, we have suite style rooms. 4 people to a suite and you share a bathroom. We also have a full kitchen and hang out area downstairs.
Academic Rigor I didn't find my classes to be that much harder than my high school, although I did go to a high school with very high standards academically.
Tips for prospective students If you don't want a small school where almost everyone knows your name, Concordia is not for you. However, if you don't just want to be a number and you want profs who remember you and are willing to stay after class to help with your homework, come check it out.
In three sentences Concordia is a small, close knit community. There is always something to do, and the people are some of the friendliest you will ever meet!! The staff are more than willing to do whatever it takes to help you achieve your dreams. It is a great school!!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus security is available 24/7 and will walk you across campus if you feel unsafe for any reason.
Greek Life Non-existent
Clubs and Activities For such a small school, they have a TON of activities and plenty of clubs and teams. In order to start a club, all you need are 3 or more members and approval (from the president, I think)
Great for these types of students Anyone looking for a loving atmosphere, a Christ-centered education, or a place where they focus on you, not numbers.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They are halls, not dorms. Apparently if you call them dorms, you'll sprout a second head or get shot or something. Not sure why.
Bang for the buck Yes, it is VERY expensive, but for that price there's plenty of activities and good classes and a great campus and great people.
What to do for fun It's very close to downtown Ann Arbor, which is one of the best cities in Michigan for stuff to do (besides being very safe). There are loads of parks, museums, theaters, and stores to explore.
Food and Dining During the week, the food is pretty decent. When Chef is there, it's great (except the pizza, that's rarely any good). On weekends, so far at least, the food hasn't been all that great.
Dorm Life Dorms seem to be very close-knit, with about 30 in each building. There is a central gathering area with couches, chairs, and a full kitchen. Each dorm has 1 or 2 brother or sister dorms that sometimes get together to do different things.
Academic Rigor Like any college, there's a variety of classes. Some are hard, some are easy. It depends on what you take. Obviously Organic Chemistry is going to be hard for most, but then you have classes like intro to sculpture.
Tips for prospective students It's very small, and that's not the thing for everyone. Definitely come check out the campus before you make any final decisions. And apply for financial aid. Tuition is not cheap and I'm guessing that most of you can use a little bit of help.
In three sentences It's a very beautiful, serene place. I feel very welcome and the loving, Christian atmosphere is great. I truly love it here!

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus is old, which means that there are said to be alot of hidden passage ways especially in the manor.
What to do for fun Student activities will once in awhile put on activites around holiday's or special weekends. Bein in Ann Arbor though there is alot to do, and there is always something new to try.
Food and Dining The food is typical cafeteria food. It's not the best but when you are hungry and needing to get to class you will be willing to eat the food. There is also the nest that has other options.
Dorm Life The dorms are old and small. The great part are that you don't have the typical halls where you don't know everyone. You will get to know everyone in your dorm and become friends with them.
Academic Rigor The professors here put alot of pressure on us to do well, but they also are willing to help in any way needed. They want to see us do well but they want to make sure that we are challenging ourselves.
Tips for prospective students If you are thinking of coming here, you definitely should. You will fit in instantly. Everyone here wants to see each other do well and we help each other reach our goals.
In three sentences It's a great school for those who like the small school atmosphere. Everyone knows each other, and you will feel like you have a place here. The professors here want to see you succeed and will do whatever it takes to help you.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a Office of Public Safety which is maintained 24 hours a day/7 days a week including holidays. The Office is on campus to help and not hinder students and encourages students to report any problems that they may encounter on the campus. They are friendly and not aggressive and very approachable.
Clubs and Activities The Office of Student Life and other departments on the Campus of Concordia University have a lot of activities for students to get involved in if they are serious about making a difference and being involved. Our athletic department also has plenty of sports for interested individuals to be involved in such as Volleyball, Soccer, Cross Country, Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Golf to name a few.
Great for these types of students ANY! The unique thing about Concordia University is they allow you to Be the Voice. That is one of their mission statements in addition to the main mission of Christ First. It is great to attend a school where no matter what background you come from and what you have been through in life, you are not judged. I've been to 15 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, and 4 high schools. I've been in 3 different foster homes, 3 grouphomes and had other experiences that are just as bad in my personal and family life. Yet here I am double majoring at a great private college.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I would not say unusual but a cool place to just sit and be to yourself is right by the Huron River on the bench. It is a nice place to study and just be alone and gather your thoughts. It is also a cool place to watch people row by and hope they don't fall in.
Bang for the buck Although most people would not think of chapel is fun, it really is a great environment. It is always good to be a part of the worship experience. In addition I like to bowl, play games at local arcade and just serve the disadvantaged people within the community. Tuition is high, but is worth the cost. The class sizes, the attention you get from the instructors, administrators and other benefits make it worth it. The relationships that you build at this college will last you a life time and can take you places.
What to do for fun Some of the things that I do for fun is do shopping in the Ann Arbor area, attend athletic events and attend the many events that they have on campus to bring students together in a fun, safe, and healthy environment.
Food and Dining The cafe is pretty awesome. This year the cafeteria is under new management and they do a great job. The average meal is about 6.00 and it's all you can eat. They have different stations for you to eat at and the food is all freshly prepared, quite often right in front of you. It is a great atmosphere.
Dorm Life I am a commuter student but I hear nothing but positive things from the individuals who stay in the dorms on campus. It is a beautiful place to live.
Academic Rigor This is college. You need to come here prepared to learn. That being said it is NOT IMPOSSIBLE. The instructors are always willing to stay after and go the extra mile to help you succeed. There are tutors which are given for free and you can use the Academic Resource Center (ARC) which has all kinds of ways for you to gain assistance. If you stay focused on what makes first- your education, this place will be a breeze.
Tips for prospective students Do your research and ask questions. College is an important decision that will affect the rest of your life. Concordia is a great institution to attend only if you are serious about learning and making a difference in the community. Visit campus and take a tour and then make your decision.
In three sentences A Great Learning Enviornment. Christ Centered. Allows you the best chance for success.

Categories Comments Campus Safety good.
Greek Life None.
Clubs and Activities Art, Athletes in action( for religious athletes or anyone interested), music, English club, engineering, and others
Great for these types of students Athletes or those who are Lutheran
Bang for the buck Athletic events are free for students, small campus. In ann arbor so there is plenty to do. You are located between Eastern Michigan and University of Michigan.
Food and Dining Decent but there is new food providers now.
Dorm Life Dorms are nice. People live in suites, this contains two rooms that hold two students each and one bathroom in the middle to share.
Academic Rigor The classes are average in difficulty level.
In three sentences The school does not have many facilities and has a small student count. Most students are either there because of religion affiliation or are scholarship athletes.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Haven't eaten there yet, but I definitely plan to!
Dorm Life Won't be living on campus just yet. Hope to be later on in the next couple years.
Academic Rigor The school has strictness on grades just like any other school ,but they don't focus primarily on grades and test scores. They focus on the potential of the student applying.
Tips for prospective students This school isn't all about grades, it's really about students having an easy transaction from high school to college. This school is also a place to express your religious beliefs, so don't be afraid to share creative ideas, figuratively and spiritually.
In three sentences Beautiful, inside and out! Great students and professors! Won't regret applying here, EVER!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety are professionals and are on call 24/7 and attentive to every need.
Greek Life There is no Greek life on campus.
Clubs and Activities The athletic student body is a major part of the campus and make great social gatherings for athletes and non athletes alike.
Bang for the buck The school private, there isn't as much variety things on campus as there is at a public school. The people and the environment make it great.
What to do for fun Downtown Ann Arbor always has something going on. There is also the large mall of Briarwood about ten minutes away and Rave theater about five minutes away.
Food and Dining The Cafe has plenty of options to choose from for such a small school. The staff is excellent and gets to know all the students by name. The Nest is also open for students to grab that snack to go or have a late night meal.
Dorm Life The dorms are set up suite style meaning two students to a room separated by a bathroom and another room for two students. All the rooms are the same so there is no fighting for the the special style that everyone wants. The rules are minimal, simple, and easy to follow.
Academic Rigor With the school being so small, the professors are always readily available for helping out their students toward success.
Tips for prospective students The school is private, so explore all your options in aspects of finances. Talk to coaches, there are plenty of teams that are looking for great talents and willing to offers scholarships.
In three sentences The school is right outside the heart of the cultural city of Ann Arbor. Being a college town, there is an abundance of opportunities for saving money at local stores and entertainment places. The school is small and has an extremely safe environment.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is able to be called at any hour of the day. They especially come in handy when you lock yourself out of your dorm room!
Great for these types of students Concordia is great for students looking for a small community. This allows teachers to build close relationships with each student. Ann Arbor is also right down the road providing a big city atmosphere right along with the small campus feel, providing an environment for every personality type and every mood.
Bang for the buck The sticker price is initially high, but financial aid packages provided through Concordia take care of much of the cost and can even bring it down to being cheaper than a public university.
What to do for fun Campus does not always excel in the entertainment department, a few good friends can go a long way. Ann Arbor and city-life is also right down the road to provide recreational activities, especially on weekends when many students go home.
Food and Dining There are two options on campus for food, the first being the cafeteria and the second being the Nest. The cafeteria's quality of food is sometimes wary, but it has been improving. The food service's contract is also up and change/improvement is in the near future. The Nest is the option for snacks throughout the day as well as late night meals. This is the place to go to hang out with friends, see who else is out and about, study, and take a food break. Events are also held there occasionally, such as euchre tournaments, open mic nights, etc.
Dorm Life The dorms are small and allow the students in each hall to get well acquainted and build relationships. The small residence number also allows for activities to be done as a dorm, including movie nights, cookouts, and servant events. There are also regularly scheduled dorm cleanings to ensure that they stay clean.
Academic Rigor Professors are all dedicated to seeing their students excel, but this is not a downfall. This does not mean that classes are easy but instead the professors challenge you and expect a lot from their students. They do not give out busy work but give assignments that relevant to the course work.
Tips for prospective students Be outgoing and get to know people. It is a small community but the large city is right around the corner. People on campus are more than willing to talk and share stories with one another. Professors also make themselves available as resources, so use them!
In three sentences Concordia is a small school with many religious activities to keep the students involved. The campus also keeps students involved through organizations relevant to the students' major. The Student population becomes so closely knit due to the small population size that Concordia is much like the home to a large family.

Great for these types of students Religious
Bang for the buck No bang for your buck, way too expensive with not many choices.
What to do for fun Downtown Ann Arbor is so wonderful.
Food and Dining Aramark sucks to be blunt. They need to switch companies because a person can eat grilled cheese only so many times.
Dorm Life Dorms desperately need to be updated
Academic Rigor challenging with helpful professors
Tips for prospective students Convenient campus, helpful teachers, great community living.
In three sentences Concordia is a small, lutheran, liberal arts college located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It's campus is small compared to most colleges, but that is what makes it such a beautiful place. The size helps to take a more personalized college experience, where the focus is on the individual student versus a giant lecture hall.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is a safe place. not much crime happens here and there aren't much problems here.
Greek Life None right now but maybe sometime in the future.
Great for these types of students Pre seminary, athletes, or anyone seeking spiritual growth.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Since this a Lutheran college, we do have a chapel on campus and have chapel five days a week but not mandatory to attend.
Bang for the buck All in all, the tuition is too high but has some benefits.
What to do for fun Work out, basketball, fishing, and IM sports. The fun part is up to you, just have to make your own fun.
Food and Dining The food is okay but has improved. Whats nice is the Nest. The nest is like a concession stand open late for late night snacks.
Dorm Life The dorms are situated nicely but for the price, they're not worth it. living in a dorm can be fun, it just depends how you get along with a roommate or a suite mate.
Academic Rigor Depending on your major some courses can be hard but the teachers will help you out. To graduate you must have 128 credits so pick a minor or make sure you have others courses you want to take.
Tips for prospective students Take a campus visit while students are on campus. Ask students questions and explore to make sure your positive this place is for you. make sure your family is comfortable with the tuition and see if your eligible for as many scholarships as possible.
In three sentences Concordia University Ann Arbor is a small Christian centered school with teachers care about you and your success. A student looking to grow spiritually can do so here. Only down fall is that there isnt much to do and the tuition is too expensive.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is a fabulous choice for those looking for a small college and those looking for a college that emphasizes Christianity.
Tips for prospective students Some tips for prospective students are to work closely with the financial aid office to get all the scholarships you qualify for. The financial aid staff works really hard for each student to make sure they are able to attend Concordia if they wish. Another tip is that if you do decide to attend Concordia, try a lot of different stuff. Get involved and I can assure you that you will find a lot of truly amazing people and a lot of new friends that will then be your friends all through your college experience.
Bang for the buck I will admit, Concordia is not cheap, and tuition was just increased. However, if you are very particular about the environment of college you want, and you want a college that places emphasis on religion and academics while still making sure that the students have opportunities to relax, have fun, and cater to their spiritual health. Overall, I get a pretty good bang for my buck.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love this college. The campus is very small and easy to walk. There is always something going on. At least twice a month there is a campus wide movie shown on a large wall, like a drive in or in the only lecture hall, like a movie theater and it is entirely free. I am Christian, so the daily chapel services and nightly worship services are extremely appreciated. I especially enjoy Offerings which is a weekly contemporary worship service. Throughout the year there are many dances for students to attend including the Fall Ball, Boo Ball (Halloween), Yule Ball, a Valentine's day dance and the Spring Formal. Lastly, every dorm is required to do an all dorm event once a semester and an all campus event once a semester. The residential life team truly wants all of the students to connect, so they have put each dorm into a team, and these are called Brother Sister dorms. These dorms get together for a lot of spiritual life activities and Dorm Follies, a tournament of games at the beginning of the year. All of the activities are amazing but I must say that the thing I enjoy the most is being able to hop over to any other dorm and hang out with my friends, whereas at a larger college it could be more difficult to go to other dorms that could be blocks away.
Am learning a lot In the small classes at Concordia every student receives the specialized attention they require. The professors truly care about each of their students. I am in the education program and each of the professors I have for these courses is personally invested in giving this generation's educators the very best training. All of them are either teachers currently or have taught for many many years and have a lot of useful tidbits and tips for us students about what really happens in the classroom.
