Categories Comments What to do for fun Sports or intramurals are huge at MLC. Also there are other groups and activities you can get involved in at school. The nearest mall is about 30 minutes away which can be a struggle but there is a Target store and a Walmart close by.
Food and Dining THe cafeteria is open from 6am till 12am. That is basically all day long. it has a variety of choices and they are all very good.
Dorm Life There are two girl dorms and two guys dorms. There are very strict rules on when boys and girls can be in each others rooms. But that leaves time for homework which is good. The rooms are decent sized and the RA's are very nice and accommodating.
Academic Rigor THe classes push you farther than you think you can go. There is always joy when you've worked really hard on an assignment and received and A. It prepares you for your career/
Tips for prospective students Be open to the small college life. It turns out to be a lot of fun. It's nice to be able to name almost everyones face on campus.
In three sentences MLC is a great college. It is full of kind and caring professors and friends. THe academics challenge you, but are very beneficial to gaining knowledge.

Categories Comments Campus Safety campus is very safe. there are campus police that maintain security on campus, in addition to dorm staff. plus it helps that new ulm is a pretty harmless town.
Greek Life there are no official sororities or fraternities on campus. it's one big fraternity (brotherhood).
Clubs and Activities drama club, choirs, wind ensemble, intramural sports, sign language club, dorm council, student government,
Great for these types of students students looking to go into the pastoral or teaching ministry of the wisconsin evangelical lutheran synod. it's a pretty specific group.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the strangest has to be hermann the german. new ulm is a uniquely german town (listed as the most ethnically german city in america) and there's a statue of hermann across the street from campus. should probably find out why he's famous before i graduate!
Bang for the buck no question, mlc is ridiculously inexpensive. instead of paying by the credit, you pay a flat rate tuition and room and board fee. that's because we all have a set course of study. scheduling is flexible and everyone meets their graduation requirements on time.
What to do for fun there are lots of things to do on campus for fun. we have a wide variety of intercollegiate sports for both men and women. intramural sports are a great way to blow off some energy. we just had a broomball tournament, which was a blast. there are lots of clubs, like drama club and sign language club. off campus you can swim at the local arena or shop downtown. you can hang out at flandreau state park. there are lots of restaurants and a movie theater as well. if you want to get away for the day, mankato is only a half hour. minneapolis is a little further, but you can see a twins or vikings game or go to a play.
Food and Dining the cafeteria is open almost 24 hours, so you can always eat. they have a sundae bar and are putting in a sports corner with big screen tvs and food. it may not be homecooked, but it is good!
Dorm Life freshmen men can be wild, but there is always somewhere you can go to get some quiet study time. since we are all moving toward the same goal, it really is like family.
Academic Rigor the classes are tough and the expectations are high. but everyone here helps everyone else, and the faculty is more than ready to help each student succeed.
Tips for prospective students know your languages when you get here - especially if you want to be a pastor! be ready to work hard, and learn to budget your time and money.
In three sentences mlc has a small campus and low student-teacher ratio. it is a family atmosphere in which everyone encourages and supports everyone else. because we all have the same goal - ministry - it makes school much easier to adapt to.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students wishing to become full-time workers in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, either as pastors or teachers
Bang for the buck Compared to public college tuition, where you pay by the credit hour, the tuition here is small.
