In general - keep up with your studies and review your notes regularly and you won't have to cram for finals. NC State specifically - sports are a big deal here, as is engineering, but you don't have to be interested in either if you don't want to be.

Make sure that you realize how huge the campus is. Keep in mind where your classes will be and know that you will have to plan around simply reaching your class. It's very likely that you will be a 15 minute walk from each class. In addition, you will probably have to use the bus system a lot. Make sure that you get involved as well. It sounds obvious, but you truly do feel connected to your campus when you participate with events going on. Even if it's just one club, it can help you a lot and make you realize what your passions are or who you want to be around. NC State is a big place, but you can definitely find your niche.
