A historically black university, North Carolina Central University is a public institution and part of the University of North Carolina System. Central is ranked #13 in HBCUs and #31 in Top Public Schools by U.S. News & World Report. Central is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. More African-American students from the Department of History program at NCCU go on to earn doctoral degrees than from any other university in the US.
Overall, this is a very nice school. I was hesitant to attend at first because I went to a PWI (predominantly white institute) for high school although I am african american. I truly have enjoyed my experience at NCCU and will continue out the rest of my education here.

NCCU is a great school to attend. One of the best HBCU's ever! The students here are always showing school pride and it is very welcoming.
