Community colleges are cheaper than universities and UCs hands down, and this is the same idea with COS as well. I rated this four stars because yes, the classes are cheaper when compared to the more popular schools where everyone else wishes to attend. Living expenses are not bad at all. Apartments start around $650 and split that with a room mate or two. Online classes or hybrids typically cost more than regular classes which actually take place on campus in a classroom.. It's mainly because access codes and brand new textbooks are required for online courses, and in-class classes usually allow students to buy used copies of the required books. Take a look at how much the books will cost you as well. For example, I compared two art classes, and the first art class required 4 textbooks which would have costed me at least $400. The other art class only required two books that costed about $80 each (brand new). Do your research.

The school is cheap when compared to getting the same level of education for the first two years of college from a CSU or UC. The quality of the education is excellent, despite the fact that many look down upon community colleges.
