Bring a hammock and tree protectors! Hanging hammocks on Kafadar and chilling or studying is very popular. We also have a pretty active slacklining community, as well. If you're a HP geek, there's also Quidditch this semester on Thursdays. If you like to dance, the Sliderulers would love to welcome you to swing or ballroom dances. Watch for recruiting weeks for the fraternities and sororities; even if you don't plan on pledging, they're full of good food and fun activities. If there's something you're interested in, you can probably find a club on campus that's also interested in doing that thing!

If you can bring a car, bring one. Walking down to downtown Golden in the winter just to eat out kind of sucks. If you have a car you can head to Boulder or Denver for the day to explore. If you're outdoorsy there's tons of hiking, camping, and skiing depending on the season. As far as campus activities, there is some planned stuff like free movies or fun stuff planned by student council. You do have to read the daily emails to know those are happening though. Mines is also a really good D2 school as far as athletics, so games are fun if you make them fun. It's nice to cheer them on because you know some of the athletes. There is also a decent party scene if you are interested in that.

Ski, hike, tube, rock climb, go to sporting events, Denver is only 20 minutes away. Watch the Broncos. Lots of shopping, museums, and parks.

Downtown Golden is always fun to explore. There is a pizza buffet that is only $7 all you can eat on Monday nights after 9 pm. There are a lot of clubs, professional and just for fun.

Golden is full of fun things to do! The Red Rocks Amphitheatre is pretty close to campus, but if you're spending most of your time in Golden you can visit the geology museum on campus or play around the town. Golden is not too far from Denver, so if you get tired of the cute little mountain town you can always try the big city. (For students 21 and over, the Coors brewery in Golden is also an option... just saying.)

The Koors Beer factory is literally within walking distance from the school. And they say Mines kids don't party.
