My first tip for prospective students is to visit the campus before attending. It is a large campus and finding your way around can get quite confusing. I'd even encourage prospects to visit more than once. My second tip would be to research about the different organizations on campus online before attending. In the beginning of the fall semester we have what we call the Involvement Fair which is an event held outside on the College Green. Each organization sets up a table for students to come and learn about the organization. With so many students and so much going on it can be quite overwhelming. So I would recommend looking at a few things the student might be interested in online so that when the time comes and the student is at the fair, they'd already know which tables to go to!

Definitely visit, if you fall in love on the first visit like I did, visit again to make sure you're just as in love the second time. Venture away from the structured tour with your tour guide, while they can be helpful, go explore uptown Athens and get to know the Ohio University community, make sure you feel like you could make it your home for four to five years. Also, if you can, be sure to attend a discovery day to see what OU has to offer for your area of academic interest.

Go to an open house! They show you the facilities and we attended a freshman math class. It was easier than my ap calculus class!.

Nelson dining hall has the healthiest food in my opinion and the best. East Green probably the best spot for getting your dorm in terms of walking to class. West Green is way better for walking if you have any math or engineering classes. DONT GET FLEX MEAL PLAN. Its a waste of money. If you really need that extra food, just get the regular 20 meals a week.

Bring a raincoat and get involved! Getting involved is my main advice. It is the best way to meet people and get out of your dorm. These peers you will meet soon become your close group of friends and you won't be able to walk around campus without running into one of them.
