If you are worried about the party scene, don't be! The university gives plenty of party free options you can attend or be part of. Also get involved! If you see a club you might be interested in, sign up and go to some meetings. You'll make a lot of friends in these clubs and even in your residence halls. Everyone here so incredibly friendly and if you ever need anything a fellow bobcat will help you out.

My first tip for prospective students is to visit the campus before attending. It is a large campus and finding your way around can get quite confusing. I'd even encourage prospects to visit more than once. My second tip would be to research about the different organizations on campus online before attending. In the beginning of the fall semester we have what we call the Involvement Fair which is an event held outside on the College Green. Each organization sets up a table for students to come and learn about the organization. With so many students and so much going on it can be quite overwhelming. So I would recommend looking at a few things the student might be interested in online so that when the time comes and the student is at the fair, they'd already know which tables to go to!

Definitely visit, if you fall in love on the first visit like I did, visit again to make sure you're just as in love the second time. Venture away from the structured tour with your tour guide, while they can be helpful, go explore uptown Athens and get to know the Ohio University community, make sure you feel like you could make it your home for four to five years. Also, if you can, be sure to attend a discovery day to see what OU has to offer for your area of academic interest.
