San Marcos is a cute, lively little town nestled in between Austin and San Antonio. There is always something to do- from the outlet mall only a few minutes away from campus, to a 45 min drive (you can make it there in 30 min with no traffic) to Austin and an hour to San Antonio. The students seem to know how to have fun- the first time I saw the river running through campus students were floating in it and paddling and swimming towards the small waterfalls.

Kayak the river, go to the rec for classes, skateboard, hike, cycle, go to austin/san antonio, go running, play a musical instrument, get lost in nature.

The river is very close to campus so many student go to the river when they are not busy studying for an exam or writing an important paper.

Greek life and organizations are a big part of what makes Texas State an exciting and fun environment to be in. Each of them offers events and unique experiences. Austin and San Antonio, both marveled for their cuisine and night life are only an hour away from San Marcos, easily accessible by bus. Texas State also has its own river that runs through campus and Sewell Park which is the epicenter for outdoor activities including sand volleyball and kayaking.

A lot of people go into Austin for fun and hit up places like Midnight Rodeo. I personally never left San Marcos except for trips back home however I found that time at the San Marcos River and the Rec where my favorite ways to spend time.

There are tons of things to do for fun including the football games, many partys, and floating the river that flows through campus when the weather is nice.

You can float the river, tan in the park, anything outdoorsy really. There are events and functions going on all the time, so there's always something to do on campus.

There's always something to do, whether it's in The Marc, The Square, LBJ, or the Quad. There's parties, food, loads of fun! It's right between Austin and San Antonio, about the same distance both ways (:
