There's always events going on! Especially in Alkek or in the Quad. Keep your eyes open for flyers, because there are ALWAYS flyers. Keeping your head up is honestly the best way to find those new things to do, and also of course speaking to people. Personally, I like to go to the art galleries in Alkek or go to theater and music performances. But there is so much more than that!

I think a really great aspect of the school is the effort they take to allow students, especially freshman, to have things to do if they live on campus. I think I can say that everyday there is some event going on that you can go to. Teachers will announce the ones they host and invite you to a few, there are posters everywhere advertising for things to do and the Texas State website has a very useful events calendar. San- Marcos in general is full of great bars and shops to hang around in, and lets not forget he lake that they so proudly speak of. I haven't gone yet, but others go about everyday during warm weather seasons.

there's a bowling alley in town that's pretty popular, that is not too terribly far from campus, although you would need a car to get there. sewell park is also a prime spot for fun, especially in the warm months when you can cool off by jumping into the river! it's located on campus, and has beach volleyball courts and other activities to choose from.

the main thing to do for fun is to visit the san marcos river. the river starts at massive natural spring and flows throughout the entire town. there is the aquarena/meadow center which has boats with glass on the bottom, kayaks, informative exhibits, bird-watching, a walkway along the river, and a lot more. if anything its the most popular spot in san marcos.

Go to Sewell Park to float in the San Marcos River, it's always a decent temperature. Attending sporting events is always exciting and you could win cool stuff.
