UC Davis is quick to respond to prospective students questioning financial aid, etc. I advise students to communicate with financial aid officers as soon as possible if there is a problem or question concerning your aid. Also, if UC Davis offers fly out program or STEP, be the first to apply in order to secure your spot. Be sure to ask specific questions in concern to your major (ask graduates or current students). I also suggest visiting the college campus to officially feel for the campus ambience (and around city of Davis as well).

Do not procrastinate! Stay on top of everything you need to get done and make sure to get out and make friends. Find the right balance in life, between friends, family, school, and jobs/internships. It's definitely possible if you know how to manage your time.

Most, if not all, students are in the same boat. If you struggle to make friends, talk to somebody as they may be looking for new relationships with people as well. Also, a bicycle is strongly recommended as the classes tend to be about .5 miles away. With a bicycle, you can get there in about 3-5 minutes.

    * get a guard for your bike tires. in fact, get a bike. * the buses (unitrans) are free with your student id. your student id is free too. so are your transcripts, the gym, education verification - it's all a one-time fee in your tuition anyway. * there's an aggie list of things to do before graduation / scavenger. do it. * picnic day. go to it. a city-wide free-for-all party that people travel internationally for. it's insane. * stay away from the bike circles outside the life sciences and chem building. seniors will pull up chairs to watch the freshman crash. * the ucd experimental college. want to take a quick course in glassblowing? and have it count for credit? it's cheap and teaches fun things over the summer. ucd student discount applies. * farmer's market about three blocks from campus. * the city uses any reason to party. there's beer festivals, outdoor movie festivals, the city of commerce festival. davis loves to drink. * breweries. lots of breweries. and places devoted to serving those beers. so tasty.
