Formed by the merger of the Cookman Institute and Daytona Normal & Industrial Institute, Bethune-Cookman University is an Historically Black College and University in eastern Florida affiliated with the United Methodist Church. B-CU confers bachelor’s degrees in 36 academic majors featuring a faith-based curriculum. Every February, B-CU schedules a number of all-campus activities in honor of Black History Month including Heritage Trail Tours and a Homecoming Basketball Game. For students interested in places with historical meaning, three buildings on the B-CU campus are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
