Founded in 1865, Bowie State University is a historically black college based in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Bowie State is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and University System of Maryland. It is home to a satellite operations control center co-managed with NASA. Psychology, criminal justice and safety studies, and radio and television broadcasting technician are among the most popular majors.
Bowie State University is a small school with about 6,000 students. While mostly commuter, it serves those in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area and is easily accessible by public transportation. Most importantly, the campus is a tight-knit community where students and instructors alike feel like they are apart of an academic family.
