Originally founded as a teacher training college, San Francisco State University is a 4-year public institution and a Bay Area-based campus of the California State University System. SF State offers bachelor’s degrees in 77 fields of study and features more than 500 courses that combine academic work with community involvement. Additionally, the SFSU campus houses the Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, a place for students to give back to the Bay Area communities. For recreation, SFSU features an Outdoor Resource Center and climbing wall.
You can tell that (most) teachers really care about their students, and have been doing their best to be there despite all of the drastic budget cuts. It has impacted the availability of services, which is disappointing; but you can see where the faculty and staff put out the extra effort in still making resources available and allowing the students to be informed. It is a great campus to be politically active or to be in a club and participate in community activities.

SFSU is a smaller school, yet there is a lot to do because it is located in the great city, San Francisco. There is so much to explore in the city that you will never be bored, such as festivals, concerts, and different events. Living here you'll have the city and beach near by so its the best of both worlds.
