The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles opened in 1974, a sister campus to the original New York one founded in 1884. The American Academy of Dramatic Arts teaches the process and preparation of acting as a craft through “an immersive educational experience.” The LA campus is located in Hollywood, adjacent to the first movie studio back lot, and features acting and camera studios. The institution confers Associate degrees (through their 2-year Conservatory Program), at the end of which students can audition for The Academy Company. They also have academic partnerships for completion of a bachelor’s degree.
