Founded as Brevard Engineering College in the midst of the Space Race, Florida Institute of Technology is a private research university with a focus on STEM programs. FIT is home to colleges of Engineering, Aeronautics, Liberal Arts, and Business. In addition, the FIT campus hosts the Buzz Aldrin Space Institute, Institute for Marine Research, and the Human-Centered Design Institute. To provide an escape from the rigors of academia, Florida Tech offers a diverse array of diversions from the campus botanical garden to a jet dragster racing team.
