Originally founded as an extension of New York University, Hofstra University is a 4-year research institution and the largest private university on Long Island. Hofstra is home to 12 colleges and schools offering undergraduate degrees in over 160 fields of study. In addition to classroom facilities, Hofstra is home to the Hofstra University Museum of Art.
