Originally founded in 1899 as a liberal arts college, Tarleton State University is now a public state university with five campus locations and a member of the Texas A&M University System. The largest non-land grant agricultural institution in the nation, Tarleton grants bachelor’s degrees in 67 fields of study. To provide real world learning opportunities, Tarleton features an Applied Learning Experience program encompassing internships, service learning, and study abroad initiatives, and the TMATE or Tarleton Model for Accelerated Teacher Education program was recognized by the Association of Teacher Education for program excellence. Throughout the year, Tarleton hosts a number of all-campus events and festivals including Howdy Week and the Homecoming bonfire.
