Tarleton State University
Tarleton State University is a member of the Texas A&M University System and that largest non-land grant agricultural institution in the nation. Tarleton was founded in 1899 as a private, liberal arts college but eventually became a public state university in 1917. The top majors for undergraduates are business, nursing, and liberal arts and humanities. The TMATE or Tarleton Model for Accelerated Teacher Education program was recognized by the Association of Teacher Education for program excellence.
