Founded in 1890, The University of Chicago is a private urban research institution. U of Chicago is home to an undergraduate college noteworthy for establishing the fields of Ecology and Sociology. In addition to classroom facilities, the U of Chicago campus features the Oriental Institute museum and Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Robie House. Noteworthy for being the site of the first human-made self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction, the university commemorates this historic event on campus with a modern art sculpture.
The University of Chicago is known more for its academic rigor and all-encompassing intellectualism than its campus life or party scene. This is far from true, however! If you're looking for hard-hitting academics, a picture-perfect campus, top-notch amenities and an active and engaging student body, the University of Chicago might be right for you.

The University of Chicago is indeed one of the most prestigious institutions I know in the U.S. What sets this place apart from most others includes the following: the best-of-both-worlds location with easy access to downtown, the campus environment (namely the gardens and architecture), and the creative academic rigor. During my campus visit last year, I was definitely pleased with what I saw, and I am extremely glad to have chosen this university.
