The University of Louisville is a member of the KSU system and was the first city-owned public university in the US. The school has three campuses in Louisville, KY, and one in Panama. The University of Louisville School of Medicine carried out the first successful hand transplant and self-contained artificial heart transplant. The Student Recreation Center is one of the most expensive in the country and includes aerobics studios and six basketball courts.
