What Students Are Saying

3.30 Average Rating
Englar dining hall (Glar) is a very comfortable place to get your meals. Sometimes the food isn't all that great, but there are always plenty of options to choose from.
Good food is provided once a while.

The dining hall, appropriately called GLAR (short for Englar), kind of sums up the dining experience at McDaniel. Honestly, it's all edible....but every day it's kind of a hit-or-miss situation. Deli sandwiches and pizza are always safe back-ups, and the baked goods are generally fantastic!
Sarah from Keedysville, MD
A lot of people may try to hate on the cafeteria food, but that's because they've become a bit jaded to it. The food is great, and always has a great variety. The only thing i can say, is to not wait until the last second to go get food, because at that point, some of the food may not be as good as it could be. Also, included in the meal plan are vouchers for the restaurant on campus, called the Pub. (and no, this does not mean it has alcohol. nice try.) The food there is always cooked for you after you order, and the wait time is reasonably short, and the only exception is the lunch rush when there could be ten orders in line to be filled at a time, all of which are trying to be made at the same time. Even then, the wait is only a few minutes longer than normal.
Ryan from LA Plata, MD
The cafeteria food is mediocre. It's not the best but some days it has really good food. This is usually when there is a theme like Wing Night or Asian Cuisine. The Green Terrace has really good sandwiches and I recommend students visit it.
Myeisha from Baltimore, MD
Let's be honest, no matter what college you go to, the food isn't going to be great. At McDaniel there are three on campus choices to eat and quite a few places off campus in town that you could walk to if you'd like. You can always find something decent to eat. Just explore your options.
Viktoria from Rowland, PA
Right now we have Englar Dining Hall (our cafeteria) and the pub as our main food, but there is a vocelli's on campus now so you can have pizza on demand (and they'll deliver to your dorm).
